Very nice little typing tutor, i'm a little confused what the powerups do but great effort :)

I got a little confused and thought I had to type to use the abilities, nope LOL. Nice little trainer for typing and a good idea for a game, you should flesh it out more!

cute idea. I'm not sure what upgrading your cookie does though. It is a nice little typing tutor, or could be used to practice spelling words if you could put in a custom word set for it to draw from.

Let's keep this open and see if the cookie still turns itself tomorrow!

Solid typing game, would be good to see it have bit more to it as I had some words repeat a fair bit. The music and art was chill :)

Fun game, ended playing it for longer than I expected. Nice little twist in the clicker genre.

I do think that typing words rather than clicking a button makes for a slightly more fun game loop... would love to see this developed into a larger project!

I also think that the wpm counter at the top makes a fun "number go up" motivator to try typing faster, but, for the wpm statistic to be meaningful, you might want to show the word that will be next after the current word (or at least sell that as a purchasable upgrade). For fast typists, you want to know what comes next so you can start the next word as you're pressing space

Very cute. Very simple. There's definitely plenty more you could have done with it, but I did just play it for ten minutes longer than i expected. The music really makes me zone out in a nice way.

hey, good job on making a simple, but fun game. I do think typing is a good improvement on the clicker formula, and the word entry is actually really satisfying, good job! I'd love to see an extension on this game, and I'd be interested to see how you expand on this core concept.

As previously said, the idea is cute and I love it. Just need some more spice to what it has currently, abilities - words popping up suddenly - tempo changing etc. Lovely work though and hopefully you'll continue working on it for a bit - so I can return to type away the cookies~

@nullval thanks! I agree on the upgrades, wanted to add more of them but ran out of time and wanted to make clean graphics, you can rate the game now I accidentally disabled it oops

Relaxing typing game. Il could use some sort of change when you reach some point threshold

The music and the whole feel of the game feels very nice! I feel like the powerups could give you some more visual feedback as to what's going on. I had to really pay attention and reread the description to understand what they did.

Interesting twist to cookie clicker. My feedback would be to give the game a goal.

I **really** wish the music was longer than a 5 second loop. I usually aim for 3 minutes with my games. I think that's my biggest issue with this game, the incredibly short music loop. Also there's a little bit of irony in the fact that you misspelled "Cost" in a game about typing. The words per minute tracker immediately jumps up to 30 whenever a word is typed, perhaps you want to find a more accurate way of calculating the WPM.

Other than that, I like the letters inside the cookie. The gameplay is definitely reminiscent of Cookie Clicker! Congrats on your second Ludum Dare, by the way! I think the biggest issue with idle games in a game jam is there's no goal. Maybe I could aim to have a million cookies, but I don't see any reason to spend that much time with this. Cookie clicker also spices it up with several different "cookie bots", so the gameplay really speeds up. This game only has the one cookie bot and no upgrades, so it goes a bit slow.

Comparing this game to another typing game I have played this jam, I have noticed the list of words here is way shorter. I ran into several duplicates in this one, while the other game likely had the entire english dictionary. In a game like this, you definitely want variety, so adding to your list of words would be the best course of action.

And definitely consider my note on making the music longer. I've been where you are, and my music compositional skills didn't get where they are overnight, but you should practice with making longer songs that have more then the same 4 measure repeating over and over.

I'll admit, my own music tends to repeat measures a lot, but I also add several layers, harmonies, and then I change up the melody here and there to make it longer. *Edit:* Oh, and add arpeggios. Arpeggios are cool.

@100th-coin lmao why did no one told me about "coast" I feel really stupid now lmao (not my 1st language so that's acceptable ig) and yeah for the music I just asked for a friend to do me a simple music even if it's 4 notes and then we found it funny that it was only 4 notes long as a joke but Blooky (Guy who made the music) actually make good stuff, and also told me he would definitely do a real thing next time and for the lack of upgrades I totally agree but I was running out of time and really wanted to make (somewhat) nice graphics, and for the list yeah it's supposed to be words related to cooking but I didn't give it enough time but thanks for your words!

I played this longer than I thought I would.
I like cookie clicker, so this was a natural hook for me.
Would've been cool if you could claim the upgrades by typing instead of clicking!

Weirdly funny.

A weird idea of a game, strangely captivating (even though I was basically hoping for something more to happen). I wish there was just more to do, like more upgrades, other ways of investing your money. It also bothered me, that the letter I typed showed up as upper and lower case, even though it did not make a difference for the submitting.

If you are looking to keep working on this I think it could be fun to make the things you type actual recipies for different types of cookies (the same 20 words over and over get boring after a short while). And then just think of how the player could use their money.

I like typing games in general so I tapped away for a while but had to stop at some point, so I hope I didn't miss any big change if one happens at some point 😮 Pretty good, I just mostly agree with previous comments: was unclear what upgrades meant and the music, while nice, got repetitive quickly.

With that said, the upgrades were explained on the page, and either way they clearly did make you rake up more money faster and even without typing, which was satisfying. Ironically it did turn it into an actual cookie clicker by the point I didn't really have to type to keep making progress 😅 Maybe that was the point?

Think I'd prefer if any correct word was immediately accepted without enter/space. Was fun to have the WPM counter to look at and try to improve.

I kept wondering whether the letters inside the cookie meant anything. After seeing that one of the cookies in the logo looks like the one I was seeing during gameplay, and that the other cookie in the logo had different letters in it, I was wondering whether that meant you could collect more letters inside the cookie during gameplay but if so I wasn't able to.

Interesting take on the original game, just needs something more I think~ 🍪
