Avoid getting sunk by the evil defense towers, and maybe return fire as well!

GOAL: Reach the green dock! 🟩

CHROME BROWSER: Only works in Chrome browser right now (due to WebGPU), sorry! All other browsers are still working on implementing WebGPU rn.

CONTROLS: - “SHIFT” to sprint! (Sorry i should have made that default) - "e" to get on/off rudder and cannons - rudder: W/S to adjust sail speed - rudder: A/D to adjust direction - cannon: WASD to aim - cannon: L-click to shoot

This game was made by two friends in our own from scratch engine, Sprig, including all the graphics, physics, and gameplay management. Our engine is open source with the eventual goal of become the world's friendliest 3D game maker. Follow our journey at: https://twitter.com/sprigland

PERFORMANCE: If you have performance issues, plz let me know ur cpu+gpu! Data is super helpful. "~" will bring up a console to tell you ur FPS. As a mitigation, you can shrink your browser window to lower the resolution 😅

KNOWN ISSUES: - Sometimes you get stuck on the rudder or cannon. Moving the rudder or the cannon to a neutral position will often get you unstuck. So sorry!

thanks for playing!

Oh bummer, sorry about that! I now know the cause i think but it's too late to fix. If you move the rudder back and forth sometimes you can get unstuck. (manning/unmanning depends on the hitbox of the object being manned which isn't great since that moves)

I like the idea! Nice controls, although they weren't perfect.

Fun idea! Cannon towers feel a bit too strong, but maybe I'm just not very good ;)

Hard but fun. The ship destruction is sooo good. I played it over and over just for that.

Very impressive destruction model! I found it very hard to shoot back though. My cannon was not able to fire high enough. Cool concept

Love the water shader (is it a shader?) and the fact you guys made this engine yourself and didn't just pull in Unity. There's not a lot there in terms of actual gameplay (yet), but as an avid fan of pirates and ship battling, I spent a shameful amount of time just sailing around the small sea and firing at that outrageous tower, so for me it worked quite well. I'd be interested to see where you guys will go with Sprig. Best of luck to you and your endeavours! :)

The destruction is great and the game does look pretty. I found the gameplay a little slow and unresponsive, perhaps it could be sped up - especially moving around the boat and turning the ship. Overall a nice game and does make you feel like you're commanding a big ol' ship.

Completed it! I really liked the destruction mechanics, and especially how eager the towers were to shoot through their own friends

The sailing was slow and deliberate, which feels very grounded and nice. The cannons were also slow, but this felt frustrating - I'd have preferred them to move a lot faster. Maybe you still want/need the precision, so adding a "sprint" might give the best of both worlds.

This was really impressive already, then I read this is on your own engine... that's fantastic! Best of luck with it

The cannon angles were a bit too harsh but I liked how smooth the boat was and how the towers got destroyed. I think maybe allowing us to destroy just the cannons would make more sense but anyway :stuck_out_tongue: . Solid work on your engine!

The game is great, and the destruction mechanism is very satisfying. However, I feel that there is a bit of repetition in each level. Perhaps you could reduce the number of cannons and add some other elements to the game.

Hey @dougggggg and @darzu, great game!

I really liked the destructible environment and the art style of the game, I think the game would be perfect in terms of art if instead of an empty horizon there were tall mountains with occasional greenery on it, giving it a Caribbean vibe.

I also really like that the towers could destroy each other!

I think it would be good if the player moved a little quicker and if you could rotate the sail to match with the wind!

There is a little bug when shooting a destroyed tower after its been destroyed creates destruction effect again even though no tower is visible (after collecting the delivery)

Overall great game and well done!

Good job on this! The highlight is the destructions of the ship. I noticed you could even destroy a small part of your own ship with your cannon! The balance between sailing and shooting could have been better, I would prefer to instantly switch to a cannon to get a few shots in as I needed to keep moving with all the towers shooting at once.

The ship does get destroyed pretty quickly, maybe a way to repair to last longer would help? Keep up the work on the custom engine!

Great game, loved the graphics but the ship moves really fast and you die pretty quick.

The destructability of the boat and towers are realy cool. Very much satisfying to just shoot down a tower. And I is more impressive considering it is in your own engine. The two part of the game of steering the ship and shooting towers are cool features but in my opinion they don't go well together at least not for a one player game. It was hard to get a felling of when the canons were useful cause I don't fell like shooting down all tower and just rushing it and trying to avoid the towers with steering was my way of trying to complete the levels

Shows an error message even when loading on Chrome 109. :( Maybe it's a Windows 7 thing.

Amazing graphics and physics! The controls are very intuitive and fun when you lern them! I can easily see this expanded to a bigger game. It was very satisfactory to shoot down the towers :) Really impressed!

The controls could be more responsive, but cool graphics and plus for own game engine!
