Parcel Purgatory by Wilko

[raw]
made by Wilko for Ludum Dare 53 (JAM)

You play as a parcel who is desperate to escape from the shipping warehouse before they get sent off. Roll and twist your way through the levels whilst avoiding falling into the dark depths, never to be found again.

Use WASD or the arrow keys to move.

Make sure you keep at least half of your parcel's weight on solid ground or you'll fall to your demise.

Fun. Looks good. Reminds me of Bloxorz, a old flash game that I played.

The game feel smooth and I really enjoyed to play!
Just add some music and achivements (ex: maximum step per level goal) and you got a great mobile game!
Great work!

I expected to see a game like this, and I wasn't disappointed. It was really well made, I loved the simple and smooth transitions between the levels. The puzzles were challenging and I had fun. Just needs some sounds.

Overall, good job! :)

Fantastic game! Really well implemented and well polished.

What I liked:
* Controls and movement felt great
* levels were well designed and I loved the seamless transitions between them
* Puzzles were fun to solve with a good progression in difficulty
* Coherent minimalist art style

Suggestions:
* Personally I would have liked more colour and detail in the assets (although I did like the style you went with)

Great job!

A classic, but very well made game in a way that fit the theme quite well. Fantastic level design difficulty ramp for a jam, though some mechanics ("bouncing" off walls to waste a round, the timed addition or subtraction squares) would probably have been better with more introductory levels. Puzzles were overall well balanced though, and my time to escape Parcel Purgatory was 31:48 with a step count of 1551. (though I did step away for awhile ha.) Great work!

I loved this one. Everything is so well done, I can't believe this was done in just three days. Would love to know whether the movement of the box is animation or physics based, super curious about that.

@zombiebust3r Glad you enjoyed it. The movement is animation based except if you fall off which is then physics based :)

level transitions are so juicy, wish i was smart enough to know what i was doing instead of brute forcing it lol, played this type of game a lot as a kid i loved it. got a time of 11:21 and 1402 steps.

also noticed the little eyes(?) on the package, thought it was cute

That's what you'd call a solid mechanics-focused puzzle game.
Had a pretty good time with it, thank you!

I thought it was gonna be a full bloxorz clone but the enemies turned out to be a really interesting addition. I'd like for there to be a bit more indication of the delivery theme though.

Amazing game. Looks more like a released Steam game rather than a jam game. Would be nice to reset a level after dying

This is a game I always dreamt of creating, but never came up with an idea how to make it. Now I can play it which is equally enjoyable. I love the simple graphics. Also levels are perfectly designed with the increasing difficulty

Damn the puzzles are very well designed, is it ok if i went through the rumba robot though ? not sure it was supposed to be solved like this lol. Anyway it was really enjoyable, very good job !

@ValentinWB, well done in finding that bug. When we were play testing it, we also found that you could move through the rumba robot. Alas we ran out of time to implement something sensible to happen in this case. Glad you enjoyed it!

Very fun game! Everything is good it became more and more challenging over time! Maybe only the graphics could've been slightly better, but are fine for a game jam

Nice puzzle game. Very relaxing. A lot of levels and unique mechanics. Would have never thought that you could do so much with a single box. I'm impressed by some of the levels and the unique way to solve them. In some way it's very hard to solve some just by thinking through, but you simply have to test different possibilities. The surveillance camera levels are a bit long winded and a single error can throw you back a lot. An undo would help a lot in that case I think.

Anyway, good job for a jam game! Here's my score:

Nice little minimalist puzzle game. It had a nice difficulty curve and having to avoid enemies and cameras was a good addition. Was half expecting the parcel to destroy the roomba robots when it steps on them, but I went right through them...

Everything works nice, puzzles are fun and "clean" graphics really fit the game. I'm quite sure i have seen similiar gameplay somewhere else, but your take on the gameplay is executed perfectlly. Good job my friend

Neat little Bloxorz type game with some new mechanics. The enemies, size-changers, and ability to roll halfway off the ledge kept things different enough. Though for the security cameras, it's hard to tell what their pattern is. I just had to bum rush it and hope the pattern moved slow enough. I liked the transitions and mood as well. Nice work!
