Rolling Pizza by Ruslan Kossak

[raw]
made by Ruslan Kossak for Ludum Dare 53 (COMPO)

Soooo. I was using Godot 4 + C# so I wasn't able to make web version.

How to play:
Your goal is to get as much as possible money from deliveries. To jump - click in the right part of the screen. You need to jump over bushes and kerbs.
To break - click in the left part of the screen. You need to slow down before pedestrians.

When you see a house - stop to make a delivery. (aim for the door).
When you see a pizzeria - stop to get more pizza. (aim for the door again).
If you miss the door, you won't be able to deliver or get more pizza.

P.S. I wish I had enough time to make a shop where you can buy a new bike with earned money

Same, but on Itch: https://tredstart.itch.io/rolling-pizza!

Controls are too harsh and could be improved but graphics are cool tho :)

The idea was good and I love the visuals. The controls is not easiest to use on a PC, but would probably work well on smartphone. Overall a pretty good jam game. Well done.

This gives my CalGames vibes, which is good. Getting past the pedestrians is a bit annoying, keyboard controls would also be great, switching between sides with the mouse is a bit too fiddly for me.

I ran over so many people... at least they got a free pizza.
Is there a double-jump? It seemed to randomly trigger one. Controls feel a bit fiddly, but it just adds some challenge.

@aushijo thx :smile:
@aznoqmous @jk5000 @wahooney yeah, I guess I overdid this bit. I was trying to balance between difficulty of the game and simplicity of controls. And I totally agree that this playstyle is better suited for the phones.
@zirrrus there shouldn't be a double jump. However, you can jump from the bushes and kerbs, so this could just late triggering of jump on them.

An icon or two denoting speed may have helped make braking more intuitive. Without concrete feedback, it's hard to judge how slow is slow enough to pass by pedestrians. That said, good work!

There is a bug where the money doesn't reset to zero when you restart. Other than that it works as advertised. I really felt like a (failure of a) pizza guy!

The sprites are really nice and consistent - I like the parallax background as well. Similar to others, I struggled with the controls on PC (keyboard controls would have been much better). It also took me way too long to figure out that you have to slow down for the people - I should have read the instructions more closely xD

@madbarron actually, as I said in the description, this is not a bug, I wanted to add a shop, so with all the money you can get a new bike, but I've burned too much time on other stuff.

A little janky and I actually didn't enjoy it very much at first, but as soon as I reached a flow state I started to really have fun. The art is actually quite good, though could maybe be improved with more consistency in pixel sizes / artstyle. The sounds are effective at conveying the gameplay. Overall, good work!

The animations are quite beautiful, the sounds are pleasant. The gameplay is simple, but it works. Decent work.

the art was very cute, was a struggle to get the hang of. controls good on pc but think it would suit a moblie game well, overall fun an simple. :)

nice work for a compo entry! the art style is nice I like the animation of coming back to life lol, the controls are simple to understand and easy, tough I wish there was more to this game, because it gets repetitive after sometime, but there's only so much you can do in a compo jam, nice work!

Loved the pixel art and sounds, and the animations are really good. Unfortunately, I found the controls to be just too frustrating, especially when playing on a screen larger than the window. Good effort, if you fix the controls, this could be a really good game.
