Ship it! by Kaptajnen

[raw]
made by Kaptajnen for Ludum Dare 53 (JAM)

title-screen-new-icons.png Welcome to Ship It, box loading game! Your goal is to load as many boxes onto the trucks as possible within two minutes. Here are some helpful tips and controls:

Gameplay:

Use the pushers to move the boxes onto the correct conveyor belts. Be careful not to load empty boxes, as this will result in losing points. If a box falls onto the floor, you will also lose points. Golden boxes are worth extra points!

Controls:

To move the boxes, click on the pusher buttons using your mouse. To change the direction of the center conveyor belt, use your mouse to control the main lever. Good luck and happy loading!

Cool Concept :)
Would be working well as a mobile game where you have multitouch :)

I played with a trackpad, so it was quite hellish, but I like the idea a lot! I see it working perfectly with a mouse or a touchscreen. Well done!

I like the mechanics. I played it with a trackpad which I think was a mistake, I found it very difficult. But overall it's well put together. Good job!

oh wow this was pretty fun and hard at the same time. i would suggest start out slow, let the player learn the conveyor system and get used to it, then ramp up the difficulty. maybe use smaller levels to introduce mechanics in. if you did that you could turn this into a 100 level game ramping up the difficulty and adding in new mechanics.

Cool stuff, I thought it was pretty fun overall ans the game itself was pretty self explanatory. Like someone else said, mobile+multitouch would be a great platform for this mechanic

A clever base mechanic here, things are immediately clear, and very much giving me *spinning plates* feelings as I tried to anxiously keep closed boxes from falling to the floor. I pretty quickly got to a point where I stopped caring how much I lost though, as things were falling off left and right. I agree that having more levels and ramping up difficulty would've kept me engaged for longer.

The art is pleasant, the color scheme chosen works very well. I like the little puff of dust as the packages land on the conveyor belt. The only thing that stood out as less visual fidelity is the trucks, just being the same town down view while the game itself is angled.

Not sure if it's due to the web interface, but there's a slight lag between clicking a button and it activating the pushers, which stood out to me.

Good job!

Pretty simple game but efficient ! Had fun while playing it, although things are going a bit too quickly and I couldn't handle all the boxes, especially the smaller ones that I could not see with small glances. But it was nice to play !!

Fun to play but the packages come out way too fast for simple mouse clicking. Like said before would be better as a multi clicking mobile game. Overall look was good.

delivered 30 boxes then smashed a couple in the wrong spot. Got stressed. 10/10 would play again

Thank you all for the great feedback, we really appreciate it! We know that the game ramps up a little too quickly. If we had more time on the project we could potentially balance things a bit better and/or explore adding additional levels to let the player ramp up to the concepts.

Fun and hard - and similarish to my game - I think your continuous running and panic approach is a little better than ours though!

Cool game. i think the only problem is that some packages are too small. And maybe there could be some items to make game more fun such as a clock make the time slower.

Hmm, thats interesting but i think there are too many boxes so I can't control all of the, xD

Fun little game. The craziness ramps up quick! I think it would be better with some sort of hotkey system rather than a mouse - with a key controlling the direction and other keys controlling specific combinations of pushers. That way you still have to think about what pushers to activate, but pushing one package into a truck might cause another to veer off onto a another belt or off the whole track.

The game is pretty neat, however it felt like there was no point to having multiple trucks. I can simply find one route for the boxes to go through, then push them through said route. It would of been a lot more fun if i had a reason to shuffle the boxes into different trucks. Ramping up the difficulty instead of keeping it constant from the beginning would also make the game more enjoyable. Still a fairly solid game.

There is a missed opportunity for a puzzle conveyer game.

Graphics and concept are great. Really hard to get it all right and all the button pushes seem to go way slower than the game's pace. Nice job putting it all together!
