Deep Sands Delivery by Rjdrag
Pilot your sand rig across the desert wastes to deliver cargo to distant outposts. But beware the creatures that lurk beneath the Deep Sands.
Play in full-screen mode for best experience.
Made with Unity and PlayMaker.
Notes on art: I did not model all this stuff. I used some asset store assets as a base (thus opted out of art) and only modeled odds and ends that I needed.

I found the gameplay a bit confusing/unclear (I couldn't tell what places I could/couldn't unload at), but conceptually it's a pretty good idea. Also didn't find it buggy at all, which was a plus.
Would be good to add a mechanism to allow you to catch back up to the ship if you decide to jump off in the middle of travel.
Also when your character is running around on the ground firing causes it to stand still which gives your ship even more time to leave you behind.
Another feature would be a destination arrow so you know where you are headed.
I like this gameplay and game concept
IT was fun to fight with monsters and deliver packages but i get some bugs.
1. Firstly character shoots to his direction and only after that rotate to the cursor. Also character can't movement when shoot - it's make gameplay less comfortable

2. Stucking in turrets when building them. On this gif i build one and stuck there.

3. Also i could spend my gold and bought turrets when i travelling, but they won't install on the car. In this gif you can see that i have 0 gold and two turrets. In the previous gif I also have 2 turrets but 200 gold.

4. And the last one bug or feature^^ You can drop or exit from car, but it still going. So you need to run after the car. It's too hard when you can't shoot to the monsters when running😅

Overall it's a awesome game and great job!
My respect to gamedesigners, artist and other game developers❤️
But as a proof of concept I think it works great, I'd love to play a game where you roam around the desert on a platform and shoot bugs, I think there's some good gameplay loop and mood in here!
There's not much to do however while its traveling. Maybe you could take inspiration from "Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime" and be able to walk up to a turret and take control of it!
Visually cohese and it's nice to customize the rig.
Music feels fitting, although the hit effects could feel more powerful (the missile ones are cool though!).
In my first run I didn't understand much of what was happening, took me a while to shoot enemies because the build button was clicked and I couldn't shoot. It was also hard to understand the delivery rules, first I went to the echo station but couldn't do anything there. On my second run I noticed that the first cargo was the blue-ish one. It would be nice to have some other hint of what can be delivered where, I could see differ the blue and the white one, but the other ones looked the same (sucks being color blind).
I had a situation in which I fell from the rig but while still kept in it, as shown in gif. It soft locked the game for me as I couldn't move, although the rig carried me through one last trip to the echo station. Here is me under the rig shooting, unable to move.

One of missiles kept on spinning around at one point, I think it targeted a desert cockroach that died too soon, so it just stood there spinning around its dead body. Looked nice though.
The crosshair kept on juddering, it doesn't affect the experience but visually it's quite annoying. The player laser could have started slightly later to not appear behind the gun, but that's just me nit picking.
Overall a really cool game! I like the setting and the customization, congratulations!
I loved the fact that the rig steers itself, and that you add to the rig.
Some minor nitpoints:
The trading part was a bit confusing. Showing the routes between the stations would probably have helped. The UI could probably get an extra pass. It felt a little bit disjointed
A really good take on the theme and gosh, how many of impressions makes bought, but anyway good assets. I did like the experience except one small thing - I wouldn't give a player chance to pick cargo type he/she can't deliver. I got stuck for a few runs because I picked a white one (which unlocked way later).
But aside of that I do like the idea and the execution
The shooting would be way less frustrating if the player aiming direction was applied before shooting.
I like the detail of how the camera zoom in and out according to ship speed.
With the ability to build ship extensions or "satellites" to build a cozy base out of your ship, it would have been perfect.
I would LOVE to see this game in coop with adjusted swarm spawns and difficulty.
Impressive work, well done !
I have been writing this so long that you actually updated the game :)
The main thing for me is knowing that I will not be able to reach the destination node before I arrive at the drop off node. It just clicks that I have made the wrong choice in destination and I will for sure die in five trips. It doesn't feel good to be able to do nothing about your impending doom.
Other than that, very cool concept and really well executed. Great Entry!
A bit sad that we can’t see the actual deposit available where we are, but it’s nice and pretty fast to learn every different places.
It went very very flawlessly, the mood is insane. GG
However my experience playing wasn't the best, I did not encounter any bugs, but the balancing is just way too hard, I retried multiple times but could barely do anything, full gun turret, full rocket turrets, a mix of them, with or without armor, but it seems like nothing worked, I would always encounter a group with two big monster, a range one and a bunch of small units, and they would obliterate me.
I don't even get halfway through the health of the first big dude that they already destroyed the rig and lost me the game.
This feels especially bad because I have zero control over the rig, it just runs into monsters, gets stuck, and dies. I guess jumping out could slow it down, but that wouldn't do much either as the monsters would still come in contact and munch at the rig all the same.
Even the smallest enemies slow you down so much when colliding with them, I would expect such a huge machine to just roll over, maybe feel a bit of a bump, but no it just can't push through even one of them. I'm not even sure colliding deals damage.
That combined with automatic navigation makes for a very harsh punishment for something you can't avoid.
It seems like the blue cargo is the most valuable, the first delivery gives 200 coins, but the other cargo types are so not worth it, made a trip with yellow and I got 120 coins only !
You have to do multiple trips to get to a station that lets you load the stuff you want, then multiple trips to sell it, and you can't even afford a turret after the necessary repair, or you can get a turret but instead die to a couple small units that the turrets couldn't kill fast enough.
If I am to make a suggestion, I would make the turrets more powerful, let the beginning be on the easy side, just the player can get their bearings, setup the rig how they want, and reach their preferred station without already being half dead and completely broke.
Then I would remove the player's ability to shoot, playing as a turret helps a little bit DPS wise, but it's not much fun in my opinion. Instead I would see a gameplay similar to that of Guns Of Icarus, the idea is to have to tend to the vehicle while it's operating :
- perform quick repairs on damaged stuff
- move fuel about
- change the power distribution
- whatever else
I think it would be interesting if these actions allow you to have some indirect control on what the rig is doing. Maybe you diver all power to one side, making the it much more powerful at the cost of being defenseless on the other.
Maybe being able to somewhat steer (not fully control the direction just slightly strafe around the predetermined route) so you could try to avoid running into the enemies face on.
It saddens me as I really like the idea and direction of the game, it reminds of Helldivers and Alien Swarm which I loved.
Well hopefully I wasn't too mean, I just really do wish I could enjoy the game more. Great job still, as you truly were close to getting it right.
Congratulations!
The missile turret was super fun and probably my favorite from my playthrough. I'll need to come back and play again.
My only problem was it was a little difficult for me to know where I was going for package delivery.
Overall, this was great and one of the best games I played.
Nice work!
I ran into some issues (movement a bit awkward, got stuck in front of the car in the desert, turning and shooting behind you is a bit delayed and shoots backwards), but it's a fun concept.
I like that you can prepare for your journey and also be a part of the fighting, makes the game very engaging.
Otherwise pretty good job.
