Lastopia is a survival/puzzle game with time-traveling mechanics.

You are a colonist, delivering life not to another planet, but to the other times also.

I had not enough time to make a proper tutorial, so some details are here (in case you are stuck).

  • You can build using the “J” button, but in the past only.
  • Windmill can mill wheat, if you put it in the past.
  • You can put Flour/Bun in the furnace.

Controls:

  • [A]/[D] - to walk
  • J - building menu (in the past only)
  • I - to pick items up
  • K - interact with buildings, plants
  • L - to throw items, cancel building

I love the graphics and audio, but I can't see how to make it off the title screen! (it is a gorgeous title screen though)

Really great game! Unbelievable this was made for a game jam, but has graphics and sounds like this! Only critique I have is that it would have been nice if there was some sort of indicator that I could interact with the object, like a outline. Apart from that really great game!

It's cool game, but so slow game for jam. A lot of dialogs disturb you from playing, and so slow development temp in game
But i really like graphics and music

I absolutely love the time travel splash effect and the music slowing down/speeding up. SO COOL.

@thesecondleft Yeah, regret doing such a dialog system, but there was no time to do it better.

@cloverfall thanks. I was going to do it, or even add control tooltips underneath.

I loved the idea, and I loved the music. The gameplay was hard to understand for me out of the box, but maybe im just stupid :) Overall I think its a great entry!

Well, this game is awesome! I am jealous that you could make something like this in just a couple days :). The sound really established a creepy, dreamlike mood, and the pixel graphics are some of my favorite from the jam (especially the plants encased in glass).

Great looks and feeling and nice gentle music choice. Game could've used some simple mechanical sounds and it seemed pretty opaque on what to do next. I got some compost but couldn't figure out how to use it, a mill without being able to plant anything that might produce flour and no way to load wood into a furnace.

Beautifully done! The music is great and fits the serene feeling of the game art style and theme. The world does feel barren but that fits the concept. There was a couple instances where the ground clipped out and disappeared but otherwise was good. Minor critique but I think I would prefer the text to start at the top left instead of scrolling out from the middle, it is a little disorienting if you read quickly.

I absolutely love this entry. Phenomenal musical ambience and dreamy atmosphere. I definitely got engaged. Lost about an hour to this gem. I hate that I was forced to quit because I could not progress past raising the acid worms. I had two hatcheries and a ton of resources, but literally no items I had would interact in the past or future with it. Without any direction, no new resources, no hints from the AI, or new structures to build, I had to quit.

I offer the following minor changes not as critical notes, just suggestions: I wish the movement animation was a little more fluid, and one arm moves behind the survivor's body. I think a slight change in sky color (morning/afternoon? Cloud cover?) would have helped indicate when the player was in the past/vs future alongside the AWESOME musical cues. I think a could of items should have been producible in the future as well as the past. Bread in particular seems like it's useless when I can live off of berries and apples in the future directly. Should have been able to bake in the future. I'm eating ten year old loaves!

Very limited inventory had me juggling in a good way and thinking. Really love the pixel art, aside from the main character's animation. Would have loved a few more mechanical sounds from the mines and whatnot to help show that I'm slowly bootstrapping up a civilization and give even more ambience.

All of that aside, I spent more time with this than any other entry so far and enjoyed it over my morning coffee. I wish I had gotten to see the end! I can't help but think some item was meant to randomly drop to unlock the next tech.

Ok, it's very cute and fun overall, but I'd loop the level to avoid endless running to the right or left (which I tried). With the loop thing (lesser scene space) you could work with a better piece of the story and get things evolve faster. Loved the concept, for real.

@ardorugus it's is looped actually  But the level is kind of big and filled with nothing so it may look endless.

Nice entry! I don´t get the theme implementation but I have fun, really insteresting idea and story, the kind I like, could be good have some feedback on wich items do you need to build the things, I like the graphics and music, cool job!

Heya! This was a beautiful vision for a game. I loved the concept, mechanically, and the way you used music to show the transition of time. Lots to like about this game, though I felt that there was a real lack of affordance and feedback on interactive elements that made the gameplay feel like guesswork. Taking a page out of "Kingdom"s book regarding interaction would have made this side-scrolling adventure a lot more fluid. I could see the effort put into the unfolding of the systems, but needed just a bit more propulsion to get through the game. (maybe more juicy feedback, or even more story prompts along the way).

Still, I really enjoyed my time in this world, and I'd love to see a tighter more polished version some day. Thanks so much for sharing!

Amazing art style and sound! Gameplay-wise I felt there was a lot of text at the beginning and later I was missing some direction. I built some stuff, sometimes without knowing why I am building it. Or I picked up items without knowing what I was picking it up and what to use it for. So I think there could be some improvements for usability.

@adamcyounis, thank you so much for playing. Really appreciated. Everything about in-game education is true said. I was going to add some outlines and the audio FX was ready too. Just didn't have enough time, as usual. But we really thinking about a standalone game. So thanks for your feedback.
