Babylon Prime Delivery by DustyRedBird

[raw]
made by DustyRedBird for Ludum Dare 53 (JAM)

Welcome to your new job with the Babylon Prime delivery service!

As our newest-completely expendable-member, we look forward to watching idly while you brave the dangerous roads en route to your final delivery. You are key to our same-day delivery promise - bringing magical tablets across Babylon.

As you make your deliveries, we ask that you refrain from using the tablets you are delivering, as each use will reduce the value to the customer. Making fast deliveries - no matter the cost to our employees - is central to our mission at Babylon Prime.

We wish you the best of luck on your delivery journey!

Babylon Prime is a Roguelike Deckbuilder. Your deck of tablets gives you abilities to use against enemies. However, each use reduces the value of the tablet. Your final score will depend on the total value you deliver to the customer at the end of the trip. As with any roguelike, the final boss is very tough, so I would recommend saving some good supplies for that!

All assets made by me within the 48 hour compo timeline with the only exceptions being: sound effects from Freesound.org and the font from 1001freefonts.com. Because I used these SFX, I did not submit to compo and instead did the regular jam, even though I stuck to the 48 hour timeline.

@dustyredbird This was fun! I played through the whole thing and enjoyed it. If I'd just make the UI a little more cohesive (like make all the buttons and enemies match the old style of the cards and map).

An interesting game, always good to see a deck builder. I think I would've fared better if I didn't play this immediately after being awake for 36 hours, but it's a good submission!

This was a fun deck-builder take on the delivery genre. Reminds me a lot of a delivery themed Slay The Spire! Awesome job!

Stuck at 0 percent loading for me sadly :/ (edit: switched to chrome and it's working)

@tyrannas Excellent! I've not really done much WebGL exporting with Unity before this, so glad it eventually ended up working.

Thank you @brandon-campbell, @ollie-d , @evogengames, and @reulan for checking it out!

Okeeey, so had actually quite a lot of fun doing a run, took me a bit to understand the value and buffs (i swear i had read the description), yeah, quite challenging but I really like the value mechanic, that was interesting compared to classic deck builders. But man, the last level is way too hard, especially after the trap, it did not fell possible even if I had played better, is this on purpose ?

Oh and also, loved the music !

Super fun little slay the spire like game. Seems like either not all the cards acted correctly or not all the UI elements displayed correctly. Mainly the buff/debuff cards. Either way a super fun game

That was a very hard game, but so, so cool! I absolutely *love* the mechanic of spending value on the cards to play them—I'm not sure I've ever seen something quite like that before and it's super interesting to play with. I'm not sure I'll manage to beat the game, but I gave it several good tries and had a great time! Would love to try this again with a more forgiving difficulty curve.

Fun game, only one visual glitch (cards move up and down rapidly) I think it's a good idea, even if the cards seemed a bit unclear at times. Liked the element where you could choose to heal vs. getting new cards, although I feel like I didn't get to see all the cards in my playthrough. I went through the middle-top way and died right before making it to Toledo.

Very unique game! I had fun throughout the whole game and it got me very engaged.

I liked the style of the cards, I would love the whole game to have this art style, but I understand it's hard to make everything on time during the game jam.

There is a visual glitch - when you place the cursor at the very bottom of a card, the card flickers up and down. And cards are sometimes called cards and sometimes magic tablets.

Some cards are unbalanced - there is a cards that uses 1 value and does 3 damage, and one that uses 1 value and does 1 damage. There is no reason to use the second card pretty much ever.

This game also has a pretty steep difficulty curve. The path to the last level is very easy and the last level is very hard.

Really fantastic mechanic of trying to avoid spending durability on your cards!
