Backstory:

When you woke up from your (a little escalated) power-nap you realize that you slept through the whole day. Your work shift as a packing guy ends in 2 minutes. Better put a sticker on all the boxes at the dedicated place, throw it on the bypassing vehicles and hope that they deliver it to wherever they need to go. While you are at it, try to push off the packages from our competitors. Even if we have to sacrifice one of our packages.

Task:

You have two minutes to throw your packages on a vehicle for delivery. It's best if you throw the competitor packages off the vehicles if there are any. Before you can throw the package you have to put the delivery sticker on it. You get different amount of points depending on what vehicle delivered the package and you get points subtracted if an enemy package was delivered

Controls:

Main Menu:

  • Up/Down or Left/Right: Switch between buttons (packages)
  • Enter/Return/Space: Select button (package)

Game:

  • Left/Right: Rotate package
  • Space: Apply sticker on package (Only if correct side of package faces you)
  • Left Mouse Click: Throw the package lightly
  • Right Mouse Click: Throw the package fast

Nice work! Took me a bit to realize that I was trying to throw boxes onto any vehicle and not just the trucks, and had to go back to the main menu to find out I should knock off the other boxes. But real fun once you get into it! Would be fun in VR!

Fun job. I like that there are two throw speeds.
Pro-tip: You can use A/D to rotate the box too, a bit more ergonomic for one hand than left/right + space.

One thing that got me confused straight away was not picking up the package, it felt weird throwing it without seeing it, I think it would be a good indication to the player if the ready to throw package was "picked up" and followed the camera.
There is quite a bit of text around the page and I didn't read the instructions fully, so I thought I had to wait out the cars since they didn't have the "platform" on them, didn't know they also gave points, and I thought that normal cars having enemy package was a bug. Then I looked at the diagram and everything was better, maybe have the diagram in the game, or at the very least closer to the top of the page.
I think it would make sense to allow the player to throw any package (to knock of the competition) but count only stickered packages towards score.
Otherwise it was pretty fun, music was a bit loud.

@jclardy Thank you for the feedback! I honestly did not recognize that. I could/should have marked the area on the vehicles I guess

@khaotom Thanks! I just wrote "Left/Right" in the controls in the hope that people will think that it can be either A/D or the arrows :sweat_smile:

@ellaris Very good feedback, I appreciate it a lot :slight_smile: About the first point, I initially implemented the throwing mechanics and after that I added the "putting on a sticker" mechanic, so the user cannot spam boxes. And I definitely missed to connect these two mechanics, dang.
The diagram is actually in the game, but it's right behind the player as I thought it was not too important to know how many points what car makes. But thanks to the feedback I now know that I should have rather put it on the counter somewhere

Cool game! Love the idea and the take on the theme. Maybe gameplay is a bit repetitive, and also the music was a little annoying to me. Still I really enjoyed it, good job!

Cool idea. I would like to see more variation when putting the stamp on the package. I was also a little bit confused with the throwing mechanic at first, but you get it after a couple tries. The music TBH is a little repetitive (the loop could be longer). The graphics are pretty neat for the little time you had. Nice entry overall!

Really cool game !
I found it a bit difficult at first, but with practice, it gets easier. There a bit of annoyance with the music.
But overall, it's very fun !

A really cute little Idea, I with the throw would have been aimed at where I am looking, but that is just nitpicking. This seems like a complete cute game. Well done!

A very fun game! Maybe at first it was a bit difficult for me to handle it and learn how to play it, but afterwards it has been very easy to understand, great game for a compo! Although I have to admit that I'm bad at throwing boxes, hahaha. Great game!

I like the little details put into the booth you work from.

For some reason I kept thinking that the package would come from the bench, not where I was looking.

@chybby Thanks for the feedback! This was already mentioned and I fully understand. Sadly I first had the throwing mechanic implemented and then the package mechanic and I did not "connect" these two to make it more responsible for the user

At the beginning I thought I have to look at the package to even throw it and missed a lot. But after a while I got the hang of it. Nice game!

I really liked this take on the theme. I would consider allowing packages without a stamp to be thrown with fast throw, as it would possibly allow the player to place their own packages, and remove the opponent packages with another throw.

@kasperhangard Thank you for your feedback. That is a really good idea! It makes a lot of sense as the right click package probably wont get delivered anyway. Plus, it would have been easier to throw opponent packages off as you could spam it.

Really cool game. The game mechanic is simple and it doesn't take much time to understand how it works. There could be some kind of increasing difficulty, with vehicles moving faster, or bad packages that you have to avoid delivering instead.

The visuals are nice, I love how the box look. The music is a bit too repetitive though, I would suggest doubling the loop next time :D

Nice entry! I loved the concept of just throwing packages from your cabin.
Maybe you could add a bit of depth on the gameplay. But still a compo creation!
