You did very very good with the presentation though, really nice graphics! Super impressive!
The controls are good even if sometime the jumps are unforgiving, I had to go slow to avoid falling. Maybe adding coyote time ect would help.
The map in the starting room is such a good idea. Reminds me of old games where you had no minimap.
The music and sounds are also fitting well with the mood of the game.
I had a lot of fun playing your game, great job!
I found the implementation of jumping a bit frustrating. In my opinion, it could be improved by disabling movement while in the air or significantly reducing its impact on speed. It's too counter-intuitive. A few times, I was happy with the speed of my character, so I stopped pressing the buttons, resulting in me falling vertically to my death :(. Also, the colliders make the platforms "slippery". Imagine my face I made when I landed successfully for the first, but died because I was too far from the center of the platform. :D
The music is really cool, the graphics are stunning, and everything works well together!
The various modules inside the dungeon, such as mazes, platforms, and moving platforms, were nice to have. It would have been even better if there were bats or spiders to fight!
Great job!
The puzzles generally were a good challenge though, memory for the whole map, the maze rooms, the jump paths and timing were all well thought out.
- I like the minecraft graphics for this
- the memory game about remembering a map layout is great, but can be a bit rough at the beggining
- the SFX is great, so is the ambient sound
- There's more than enough time to make the objective, which is nice
I bet you put the guy in a random pre-defined spot at the beginning. It would be nice if the last check was remembered, so I don't end up running to the same place 3-4 times in a row (I never managed to get to the left side of the dungeon)
Also, the controls are quite clunky, especially jumping. I believe you wanted something to add to difficulty, but the jumping killed me in a rather annoying way unfortunately.
A good job nontheless!
Obviously some more upgrade would be cool, but I know how hard it is to add some more upgrades within a gamejam, let alone the compo. Other than that, maybe a goal would be nice.
Overall very well done for a compo!
The caves were very moody due to the art and the lighting, which really fit the game. Maybe some mysterious music would have sold the mood even more :P Anyway, really well done! I think this is a super solid entry for the compo! :D
The memorization of the map as a mechanic was cool and I hope you expand it~
I really like that there isn't a mini-map. Having to actually engage with the environment is something that is sorely lacking in a lot of games. I found myself giving parts of the maps names to remember them better!
Graphics and sound is amazing here. Can't believe this is a compo entry! Absolutely love the lighting and the ambience. The little guitar flourishes when the delivery drops is great. A lot of really nice little touches here.
The platforming itself is also pretty good. A high degree of precision is possible after a little bit of practice.
Good entry!
