Delivery Destroyer by APG

[raw]
made by APG for Ludum Dare 53 (COMPO)

Your job is to prevent the delivery of a high explosive to the power core of your weapons plant. You do this by delivering heavy weaponry to the delivery area, then said weaponry delivers highly deliverable payloads of dangerous deliverables onto the offending deliverer.

Basically, I wanted to make a tower defense game. But, the little guy that you attack is carrying a giant bomb, and all your towers do explode if the little guys successfully complete their delivery.

How to Play

Buttons on the right side allow you to select which sort of tower you're placing. Bolt towers (blue) are the standard type, and cost 2 scrap. Cannon towers (orange) do twice as much damage as the bolt towers, but shoot slightly slower. They cost 4 scrap. Lance towers (green) have twice the range as the bolt towers, but shoot slightly slower. They cost 4 scrap. You can also add Armor to your towers. This allows them to withstand one explosion without breaking.

Number keys 1-4 are shortcuts for the tower buttons, with 1 being bolt towers and 4 being armor.

When the little bomb people (LBPs) die, they explode, which destroys any nearby unarmored towers. The longer the game goes on, the better the LBPs get at exploding, running, and not dying.

Have fun!

Fun game! I like the exploding mechanic - I didn't quite get it at first as to why my towers were disappearing but then it clicked on the second playthrough. Makes the tower defense a bit more dynamic.

Good game with well balanced difficulty! It's really hard to create AND to protect towers at the same time meaning we'll have to make sacrifices sometimes. Good job!

Interesting idea. I liked the flow of the game, and the design and sounds !
Too bad you loose when only one enemy makes it through.

tough balance to the difficulty there. Definitely had me coming back for another try a few times. I like the explosion vfx. The towers didn't feel very different and it was pretty punishing to lose after only one reaches your base, with little to do to slow them down.

Interesting take on tower defense, with the attrition. I think the delivery theme is a bit stretched here.
