Overtime at the Tetromino Factory by Tim Sims
This is an entry for the Ludum Dare 53 game jam. The theme: Delivery
The gaming industry has made some cuts recently, and in order to play the latest exciting game, you must put in some work.
Hundreds of individual blocks are being delivered to the Tetromino factory, and you must construct the Tetrominos and deliver them to the playing field.
Use the mouse to construct tetrominos on the factory floor. Only shapes with four blocks can be put on the conveyor belt. If you make one too big, you'll have to throw it in the trash.
This game is singleplayer, but can also easily be played by two players, one controlling the factory, and one playing the block falling game.
The controls for the factory are:
- Mouse Left Click to pick up and drop blocks on the grid and conveyor
- Blocks are automatically combined with other blocks of the same color they connect to on the grid.
The controls for the block falling game are:
- A to move the block left
- D to move the block right
- S to send the block down
- W to rotate the block
- Escape to pause
- F5 to toggle fullscreen

See if you can find all the sticky notes left by Management.

However, there are some aspects of the game that I took issue with.
The lack of a tutorial or how to play menu stood out to me. I didn't know what I was meant to do, whether or not I was meant to complete the Tetris like a normal game, or what the conveyor belts did. Though this is a pitfall I also fell into in a previous game jam.
The music did get a bit repetitive, but hey, 72 hours isn't a whole lot of time to work with, so I totally get it.
Overall I liked the concept of recontextualizing Tetris as being part of an actual factory and the art was great, but I couldn't figure out what to do, which knocks this game down a few pegs for me. Solid effort though!
@random-ideation-studios, so it *can* be a two person game, but it is balanced around being a single player experience, where you control both the factory and the tetris board.
@rabbitaddix Thank you for the feedback. I could start the game with instructions up. Do you have any suggestions on how the instructions could be improved on the description page?
@roguebrain, it's definitely meant to be chill, but if you play for a while the speed increases, and if you fail to deliver pieces, you'll lose.
Starting a new game can feel kind of slow, but other than that it is a load of fun :)
Have a great ludum dare !
But i liked hat you did with the environment and style!
Well done, great entry :)
Great entry, thanks for the game :)
