George and Deliverance by MacDoom
Saint George has been entrusted by God to deliver kittens with his sports car. Bless fast, smite furious!
Best played on a cellphone, designed for touchscreen. From a laptop or pc use your mouse, its tricky with touchpad.
Because of aspect ratio thought for cellphones LD website is not optimal. Prefered to use the itch.io link.
The speed is controlled by how far from the car you press. If you go slow it wont explode. So go fast in straight lines and turn slow and you'll be OK.
This time decided to keep it as simple as posible. Started just with the mechanics, the rest fitted by itself.
Post Jam addons: - Title screen - 3 difficulty levels - Turbo sound when going really fast! - Non masochist score system
NES references: Onyanko Town, Rally-X, Road Fighter, Speedway Rally.
Made with: - Game Maker - Aseprite - Chiptone - Jezkola Buzz - Yamaha PSR-280 keyboard recorded with my phone processed on audacity

I tried to play with a mouse but it was quite difficult and after quite a few tries still only managed to get like 500 points. Though partially my fault because the music and the bonus countdown make me drive too fast  :boom: :red_car:
I used shift+right-click on the LD website to open the game frame in it's own tab which made it a bit better.
Going to check your game as soon as I can =O)
Thanks for your review. I'll get to your game as soon as I can.
Had lots of fun delivering vodka on you game!
noticed that you made the audio by "Yamaha keyboard recorded with my phone processed on audacity". Unique approach!
The control is hard but in a minute I can feel it natural, the theme maybe is a simple use but it's fine, the music fit very well with the game and the game design is simple too but in the best way.
Congratulations!
I played it on my smartphone and I felt like you could have delivered the controls using a different mechanics, because initially I kept crashing into walls and in order for the speed of the car to be under control I had to put my finger at the top of the screen of the smartphone.
Anyway, the aesthetics of the game were simple and beautiful. Very good job in general!!! Keep up!!!
Loved the bluepinty clean aesthetic of your game!
I love how everything is clear and visible and I felt like I know what to do and how to do it! Many points for clarity!
At times, the instant stop mechanic when letting go seems a bit over powered? I could just tap click my way through tight corners, but still it's a bit difficult and punishing with only one hit reset.
I love how there are flames on the car, and tire tracks on the ground when going fast! I like going fast!
It would be cool to have a normal fullscreen mode with a 3:4 or 16:9 aspect ratio. It would also be interesting to drive to other locations where you could speed up enough (not a maze). And something definitely needs to be done with the camera. But the work is decent, especially for COMPO.
PS: Recording an electronic synthesizer with a phone is what made me smile at first, and then I looked at how the PSR-260 is connected to a PC, and the smile disappeared from my face.
Great intro of the game!!
Music and sfx was a banger!!!
Gameplay was bit tough at start, but I liked and started to master it!!!
Awesome submission!! Also play my game!!!
Like you say above, putting your foot (finger?) to the floor on straights and carefully turning is the best plan, but it is possible to be a bit more reckless once you get used to it.
Good level of polish mechanically and visually. For reasons I can't quite articulate it remind me a little of a GBA racing game called Driven I played a lot as a kid 😋
The music is great. Good driving beat!
The into to the post-jam version is great. Good laugh from that.
Loved your game! The pixelart with that shader looks awesome. Nice job!
Hahaha. Okay I'm interested! The music really vibes and fits the game well! The game window resolution seemed a bit confining, I found it hard to see what was coming next to the left/right. I like the mouse controls though, with the car moving faster the further away your mouse is from it! I couldn't seem to get fullscreen to work. An amazing premis and well-executed too!
I had a lot of fun, keep up the great work!!
If you polished this up, I think it could be a really great mobile game. Nice work!
