Dr Stabby Delivers the Cure by terryg

[raw]
made by terryg for Ludum Dare 53 (JAM)

UPDATED GAME: http://ludum.daretogame.net/stabby-latest (original is still in the links)

In "Dr. Stabby Delivers the Cure," you play as Dr. Stabby, a scientist who has developed a cure for the zombie outbreak. The cure requires the zombies to be stabbed with a special syringe, and you're the only one who can deliver it.

You find yourself in an arena surrounded by hordes of zombies. Your goal is to "cure" as many zombies as possible. But be careful - the zombies will try to swarm you, and if they overwhelm you, it's game over.

To move Dr Stabby, use "A" and "D" to move left and right. To jump, use space bar. To attack right, face right and left click your mouse. Similar for left. To attack up, press "W". To attack down, press "S".

Can you help Dr. Stabby deliver the cure and save humanity from the zombie outbreak? The fate of the world is in your hands in "Dr. Stabby Delivers the Cure."

Cool game! Is the music procedural?

It would be awesome if it were procedural but it is not sadly

It should be playable @listlessonion . It does have a yellow warning on load. The game is 14 MB so takes a little time to load but I’ve played it on a 7 year old laptop. What error or what is happening?

Fun little game, quite simple design wise but I love the drawings!

Looks like Shaggy got a medical degree! The art is cute c:
I think it'd be nice if there was some kind of indication of progress being made. Like cure X zombies or something so I have something to aim for.

Hmm, this cure seems to suspiciously cause a case of the vanishes. Maybe it needs to undergo more medical trials.

I liked how sometimes the monsters were stacked on top of one another with their silly animations. Since there's some knockback every time Dr. Stabby runs into a monster, I thought at first he was kicking them away and didn't realize that he was also losing health when that happened. Hey, but maybe kicking is a legitimate strategy...

I agree with Francis about having a goal. Increasing difficulty over time could be another way to increase engagement as well. Great to see you're still game jamming!

Thanks @carraka . We were running out of time to even get the basic mechanics working. It has been more than a year since I've done a jam. Glad to be back into it. I updated the game Tuesday night so that the game play was a little more interesting, but it still needs a goal, but at least the new version doesn't have a degenerate strategy. I hope to keep updating.

I was drawn in with the rick and morty inspired graphics! Good looking game. Movement feels quite nice. The character could use a forward attack, or make the enemies smaller if you're attacking from above, with a sound when you make contact

The sprites and artwork are great! The gameplay is a bit wonky though, but great entry regardless!

Love the idea and link to the theme, is a very interesting take and i like it! art style gives me rick and morty vibes which i love too! would be cool if we could turn the music down but other then that really awesome job for the 72 hours you had!

Solid art and animation, it reminds me of Rick and Morty, especially the zombies' face. Gameplay is very simplistic but it works, I just wish there were more to it.

You guys made a game in 72h and that's definitely an achievement, good job.
