Out of Time by Benjamin Gearig
Out of Time
Summary
This is a pickup-dropoff delivery game that takes place in a post-apocalyptic timeline. The object of the game is to continuously pick up and drop off deliveries to people who need help, with the occasional enemy ambush (not working). Follow the rotating arrow to find your destination. Above the arrow are bubbles that fill in for each destination you reach. There is a casualty count that gradually increments until the max; once it hits the max, the mission resets. Reach all of the destinations before the casualty count maxes out and your score increases and a new mission begins
There is still plenty of work to be done, but there is enough done to where the player can pick up and complete missions (endlessly). There is also a semi-working score system.
Instructions
Follow the arrow to your mission's next goal.
Controls
- WASD: Movement
- QE: Decrease/Increase health (monsters aren't working so you determine your own fate (feature not a bug))
- Spacebar: shoot weapon towards mouse cursor (nothing to shoot at but you can pretend)

I saw the monster and instantly thought "eww, shoot him" but the gun didn't fire, I looked up to his eyes ready to be attacked but noticed no aggression. I was shell-shocked. Just because I had a gun, just because he was ugly, I thought that reason enough to murder him? Is this what people meant when they said video games make you violent? Do monster lives not matter?
Under the mounting shame I saw no option but to spam E and commit suicide (in a video game).
I still have a tear in my eye, I truly was "out of time".
Besides that 10/10
I'm sorry that the game objective isn't clear. There is an arrow on the left that rotates to point toward your destination. Above that arrow are "bubbles" that fill in each time you reach a destination. There is a death counter on the right. People quickly die as you are completing mission goals. If you fill in all the bubbles before everyone dies then your score increases. Rinse and repeat.
Unfortunately medkits, combat, and other mission goals were not completed in time.
The controls seems very responsive and the pixel art is nice, but I missed some objective (I just following the arrow's direction, but reaching there don't give me nothing).
If you were to keep working on it the only thing I could be constructive about is the direction arrow, which in my opinion suffers from the pixelation, on some directions it's barely readable.
The art was great, and the movement felt good- I actually laughed out loud at the "take my own life" button, haha
