You've just been born, and it's time to take over as the city's deliveryperson! Hop around the town, talk to people, and deliver bad news, clothes, and babies! All this happens in A City Minute.

I made a walkthrough in case you get lost! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/53/a-city-minute/a-city-minute-walkthrough-guide

Gameplay: - Explore town and discover secrets. You'll need to know the town pretty well to complete your boss's directives. - The city has 3 streets, Main Street, Park Lane, and Ocean Drive. You can check which you're on in the top left!

Controls: - Jump (Space) - Move (A/Left, W/Right) - Interact (E) - Change streets (W/Up, D/Down)

Thank you for playing!!

If you'd rather run the source instead of the EXE, the requirements are: Python 3.7+, PyGame 1.9.6 (Haven't tested it on newer)

A very peaceful game with a colorful world. I couldn't find the guy who was going to pass me work, and I pressed E on several instances of people and couldn't interact with them. The game size was too tall to fit my screen, so I couldn't see the bottom.

cool game, fewer controls would make it feel nice

I liked this little narrative adventure! I think it was a good idea to have the player go through and see most of the locations before finding the deliveryperson so that they understand what to do later. I think it may have been beneficial to more clearly indicate at the beginning that the first goal is just to explore until you find them; I felt a bit lost at first. Overall, great work!

@junagames Thanks! Agreed, if I had more time one of my main ideas was to merge the street changing into one button.

@stephen-kyranakis Thanks for the feedback! Those are great ideas, I'll keep them in mind if I keep working on the game.

I couldn't really find what to do. I found all the places, I restarted the game a few times to see that original message through I am still really confused.

cool exploration phase and nice art, maybe delivery should have multi part collection to add complexity

Nice atmosphere, really nice music (My favorite thing from the game). The instructions are slightly confusing, you get quite lost at the beggining until you figure out what to do. The resolution is also a bit weird. But nice entry overall!

Like many in the comments I couldn't really work out what to do (I felt like I talked to everyone?) but the vibes with the colours/music etc... made for a really enjoyable atmosphere.

Cool game, I like how it puts several different twists on the idea of "delivering" with the different tasks you have to do. Also exploring the world and finding people and things to interact with is fun.

One criticism I have is that it's annoying how going through doors/down different streets is sometimes W and sometimes S, and I kept pressing the wrong one. It felt to me like there was no reason to have two separate buttons so why not just make it the same button for all doors and streets?

Thanks for the playing the game everyone and for all the feedback!! I made a walkthrough to make the story more do-able https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/53/a-city-minute/a-city-minute-walkthrough-guide.

@silverknives Great idea! A quest where you collect items to trade or build something would be cool.

@kypello Agreed, originally I had intersections that gave you two options at once, but I designed that out during crunch time! Thanks for playing. :)

What a melancholic little game! The vibes are immaculate with this one! Unfortunately, I got stuck on the guy on the second apartment, no matter what I tried, there was no prompt to enter it. I don't care though, I had a lot of fun soaking up the atmosphere and enjoying the town. Well done!

A very sweet game with good vibes. I found it a bit tricky figuring out what to do but enjoyed exploring the town.

Great job with this game! I loved the unique mechanic of pulling blobs together, which added a fun and innovative aspect to the gameplay. The art style and pixel graphics were also really impressive, creating an enjoyable atmosphere for exploring the world. The sound design and music were great, too. Overall, well done!

I like the way you've structured the "delivery".
Interaction should be more consistent.
Welcome to play me game as well.

Good job! Also considering you made this from scratch is very impressive. The aesthetic was lovely. This is the kind of exploration heavy game I'd play if I found it on steam.

Took a while to find the delivery part, but once I did I managed to finish the game. I enjoyed the narrative and genernal mood. The controls could have been improved - movement felt fast, and I didn't really understand why sometimes I was using up and sometimes using down to go through doors.
