Postal Dash! by TebionDL
Note!! Please use the itch.io link to play the game. The platform won't let me remove the downloads :)
Have you ever dreamt about managing your own post office? You probably haven't! But in Delivery Dash, you can! And, as it happens, this is a really busy and understaffed office- so you'll have to take care of deliveries AND pick ups. Oh, and you also have to take care of the office pet, and make sure it stays alive... Should be easy, right?
The game starts simple- All you have to do at first is pick packages up from the clients waiting in the queue, deliver them to the delivery area and return to the client. But as you progress, you'll unlock more tasks to do with the packages to be delivered: Make sure they have the right weight, make sure they're using the correct stamp... Oh, and that they do NOT explode!

This is very close to a real life simulator xD Made me think of Paper Please in some way. Very great job, keep going !
I got confused at the start as i didn't know that i can get behind the counter - probably a good idea to either start the player there, or show some objects directly behind the counter - i thought the yellow background was a wall. Next thing that happened I sent a package but couldn't return the receipt, so i got on the road and i filled in the bowl which wasn't even needed on the first day
I got confused at multiple other steps - it's not very clear how exactly to do the stamps, or where to get inbound packages from so explaining the exact steps of how to interact with the game is very useful, not just the high-level description of the job. I'd say as a general rule, err on the side of giving too many instructions rather than too few - this is after all a post office simulator not a post office job - I'm trying to have fun here not just feel like a disappointment :P
Once i got past the confusion with the mechanics I really enjoyed it, seems like a very fun idea, and you do introduce the mechanics over time in a very nice way - just needs a bit more of explaining and i'd think it would be very fun!
add a tutorial man!!!!
Overall, good game with nice sfx, audio and gameplay!
That being said, your game is basically what I was hoping my game would end up as, and has features that I would have liked to have had (a scale to actually measure the packages, etc).
Bravo to you and the team for accomplishing this for the game jam! I had a lot of fun playing around in it.
There's a couple criticisms I've got, but feel free to ignore me, you did only have three days after all <3
- I had a very hard time understanding the objective. The 'blue area' was not highlighted, and I had to look at the comments to figure out where I was meant to go. Despite the text, it's very hard to tell what machine or station has been unlocked.
- Also, there's a bug where I can withdraw someone's package they're asking for, but then if I drop it in the blue area, it'll send the package elsewhere and all I'm left with is a receipt I can't give to anyone cause I've sent their package away... And so now they're stuck waiting forever TuT oops..
- It's very hard to tell when a day ends, so when I have a limited amount of things to fill my time with, I feel like I'm waiting forever... (Also did the dog thing die?? I forgot about it and then realised the place was filthy and it wasn't moving QnQ)
Anyway, a big game for a jam!
Good stuff :8ball:
Impressive to get character customisation in the game!
