Pizza Puzzle by Paroxysmal

[raw]
made by Paroxysmal for Ludum Dare 53 (COMPO)

You've lost the slices of pizza you are to deliver. Figure out the puzzles of this game and collect the slice of pizza to earn your tips. Taking damage from spikes will cause you to lose slices.

Left/Right - Move

Space - Jump

Ctrl - Active switches and Mailbox

R - Reset level

Hint: You do not have to collect all of the slices to move on to the next level, but if you want the max tip you will want to. Hint 2: Yes level 7 is beatable with a full pizza.

Tools: Godot 4, Aseprite, Bfxr, Affinity Designer

I've opted out of audio, though I did make all the sounds fx; I did want to have music so I grabbed some chip tunes to help round it out. The music comes from Eric Matyas at www.soundimage.org

Had some problems on the 3 or 4th level, if the crate was rotated it could not be pushed and instead pushes the player around. Otherwise the game is great, I liked it!

Looks really polished! I'm not very good at platformers, but some jumps feel very tight. I love the gameboy art.

Nice job! I love the gameboy aesthetic. The controls feel a little stiff but I think it actually matches the old school gameboy style haha.

Beat it! I love the gameboy style, some of the jumps on the last level felt a bit tedious but other than that great work!

This is really cute! I love that you made the score a tip section! Especially with the delivery theme! I also appreciate the pixel art of the pizza slices in the top left corner. I like that you can be lazy and not deliver all of the slices.
Good job!

I love the the game, some more levels would be great. Especially the whole design brings back old gameboy vibes. Only negative point is, that boxes are weird and get stuck. In one level to permanently activate the button I was unable to get the box out of the corner without it flying motionless in the air.

Impressively complete for a jam entry, with a plausible puzzle arc and an endgame. Really like the choose-your-own-difficulty effect of the tip system. Great job!

The levels in this game are very well made, especially considering the 48 hour deadline. I noticed one small issue: the box on the level with the hidden switch glitches out if it is on the platform while it gets lowered. Overall, loved the game though, hope to see an expanded version with more levels released after the jam.

A fun little puzzle platformer. Everything seem to be working well and I like both the visuals and the music. Overall a good jam game. Well done.

Nice game, I think you found a very satisfying jump, it feels perfect. The puzzles are quite challenging (at least for me), I struggled to solve even the most basic levels.

I really like the art. Well done!

Boxes are a bit hard to use, but I like your puzzle designs. I think adding the ability to pull boxes might have helped

Very nice game with decently challenging puzzles. I love the green-pixel art style it reminds me of my Gameboy. One thing that intrigued me is the pixels of the boxes when they move didn't seem like animations, are you using a shader to make the pixelated effect?

@bit-flipz Godot 4 has two different rendering methods. The one I used retains the pixel limit of the resolution. This makes it so graphics move and rotate like they would on something like the Gameboy that has a 160x144 resolution, even though we are playing on high resolution monitors.

This was fun. Also, I'm a sucker for loose-cap jump animations.

I always appreciate having a tutorial in the game as it allows me to jump right into the game, so thank you for taking the time to include it! I also like if you come across a level that's either too hard to get all the pizza slices you can instead move on to the next level with what little slices I may have. And the Gameboy aesthetic is totally on point! Nice work :)

Some of those pizzas seemed a bit confusing to get to, like the pieces needed to get to them were missing.

I like the old-school art style and the 8-bit sfx. In some of the levels, it did not feel possible to get alll the slices. How do you get the boxes out of the corners?

Cool little game. The graphics are very well done. I stopped playing at the level with the falling platforms that's also in the description above because it felt out of my control if I could or couldn't make the jump. But it's also possible I'm just bad at platformers.

@wolfier @toc All slices can be picked up...it comes down to the order, speed, and switch order.

Solid gameplay and mechanics! Had fun playing this one. Love how the platforms move a bit when you jump on them, really gives it life
