IT'S ALIVE by Fear Games

[raw]
made by Fear Games for Ludum Dare 53 (JAM)

Post jam version is playable at the itch.io link below, I have fixed several issues with colliders and added more info about how to play. I will leave the jam version up here though however I do recommend trying the Post jam as some game-breaking bugs have been fixed

If you have frame rate issues with the web player please try the download version

“Frankenstein entered a bodybuilding competition and found he had seriously misunderstood the objective.”

In It's Alive, help Igor collect body parts and deliver them to the doctor's secret lab before midnight strikes so he can complete his hideous (yet somewhat cute) experiment. But was the real monster the friends we made along the way?

HOW TO PLAY Use W, A, S, and D keys to walk, LEFT SHIFT to dig up body parts, and SPACE to throw them in the mausoleum. Aim carefully and don't forget to keep an eye on the Drs clock, Collect 10 body parts before it strikes midnight!

Cool game, and a really cool spin on the idea of delivery. The controls felt a little bit weird but apart from that great job!

Really interesting game! I walked outside the map and really thought it was a bug but then i was surprised by the "Real Ending" it's always fun to find stuff like this and it feels like a reward for adventuring which i don't really see in games anymore. The graphics were also really well made and they are some of the best i've seen in this jam which was a really pleasant surprise 5/5 on them. One thing that felt off was that i didn't really find a clear way to pick up the body parts but when i found how to pick them up then the game was fun and a really nice little jam game!

Kinda hard to aim and throw but the mood and the sound are sooo good!

I couldn't really understand what to do and how to do it. Also, the graphics VFX were a bit too much on me. Loved the idea and the art design concept, but a little less IMO :)

You might want to look into the possibility to take a body part, enter the mausoleum and just click __A__ and __D__ a bunch of times and it counts as 10 out of 10 bodyparts ;)

Really liked the mood and the guitar on the main menu! (a shame it's not in the actual game too)
It took me some time to understand you're meant to long press space to not lob the parts over the horizon, and where I was supposed to send them.
I also did not understand what made me lose (is there a time limit?) and apparently the time limit is also active on the main menu?

Amazing art, compose and music, easy to play but is difficult to understand it without this description.

Well done, I like it a lot! (Specially the out of bounds texts lol)

I think being able to see the lab down below makes it special, nice game, wish I could take limbs off of living people

The mood is excellent! Supported by good music and style. Great game right there! I feel like the game could use a bit more tutorials (still, i played the post jam version), it's at first a bit confusing with two screens having stuff happening at the same time. Maybe some more indications of what affects what would be better? Still, had a lot of fun! Keep it up!!

I'm not very much a fan of horror or spooky stories. The "minecrafty" look made it possible to play this ;) I was not able to find the "secret ending" even though the hints in the comments made me go look for it. I did at max get like 1 body part thrown into the mausoleum before timer running out.

I liked the aesthetics of the scientist and the lab, and it was cool the game clock was in game, though it took a few tries to understand. Sometimes when clicking "left shift" close to a grave, the grave with sparkling things moved. Intentional?

I would hope the main menu "music control" remembers where i adjust it, so that if i lose i don't have to adjust sound again each try.

I need more brains... Clever game, possibly too clever for me!

Okay, I give up, I got to 9 out of 10 like 4 times... The throwing is so frustrating, especially since you basically have to always just aim for the lowest possible anlge. All in all it is a super cute game I love all the stuff that is going on underground while I struggled above. I think a little bit of tweaking around the throw mechanic and maybe making sure you can reach body parts if they fall behind the tombstones in the back, and you have a really nice game here. Really well done!

Neat game, love the asethetics. Getting the body parts into the museum is pretty tricky, not sure if I missed something in the instructions. Great little game, though: well done!

This is frustratingly difficult simply because the throwing is so fiddly. The body parts get thrown with too much force and at too high an angle. So much so that it took me a while to notice that the mausoleum windows were even what I was supposed to be aiming at.

I liked the spooky atmosphere though and the detail that went into the lab even though you don't interact with it.

Nice entry with strange throwing mechanics. Nice way to place the hints in the sky though it makes it a bit more difficult to read if you are on the opposite edge of the screen.

Great entry  I love how you implemented the environment and the theme (I'm a fan of dark and gloomy atmospheres). Also the gameplay is fun and challenging (I've never reached the end but that's because I suck at the game ahah). The tossing mechanic is quite interesting, good job!

I like the look and mood of the game, the music is also fitting! A bit too dark at times to see what I was doing, but in general a nice submission. Had to download it though, the web version was very choppy :(

I'm really "digging" the art style. Great camera movement. I love that you can see the lab below. I wish there was a little more to the gameplay but its well scoped for a game jam. Aiming the throw is kind of hard. Timer is kind of fast but I might just be bad at the game. Music is good but I would have liked interaction and feedback sound effects too. Very moody. Great job!
