I feel switching the state/mode breaks the flow a bit. Also randomizing the velocity on impact is a bit too disruptive for me, but maybe I'm just a poor driver hehe...

Looks and sounds great, nicely polished! Even though the visuals themselves were rather simple, the effects and everything make it really pop. Some adrenaline pumping music would have been a nice addition too. And it would have helped with selling the slow-mo too. Now it was sometimes quite easy to get confused between the modes.
Also would be an amazing feature to see your run in real time afterwards... 🤔
The driving physics seemed a bit off. Or maybe not the actual driving but the collisions. They are just out of control. Looks like the car just randomizes it's rotation on collision. Really brings in these uncontrollable chain reactions where you just mash against walls and mail boxes.
I think it leans too much on the package/letter delivering and not that much on the actual fun part which is the driving. Especially not fun on those huge clusters of mailboxes like that one spot where it goes around the same are at least three times. 😤
The control scheme for throwing seems overly complicated and causes confusion on whether I'm normal or slow-mo and whether I'm charging a throw or not. That extra click to trigger the mode seems unnecessary. Throwing also has this weird inaccuracy that I think is caused by car spinning around. It's mega annoying as it just hinders your play without much you can do about it.
The levels feels kinda long and as I mentioned already, has too many delivery points. I think the game would have really benefited from having some shorter circuits even on that same city map. The current one is just too long and repetitive to really warrant trying to improve your time much.
Anyways, good job! Very outstanding quality for a compo game... 👍
Lowlight: Collisions
Overall a really cool idea of throwing deliveries out of a fast moving vehicle. All the aspects of the game help convey that idea. The slow down time effect was used perfectly to provide assistance to the player to aim but still conveying the sense of high speed. The slippery drifting controls of the vehicle also fit the idea that the car was moving at high speed and made the game feel a bit more fun and silly. I especially love the attention to detail of the trailing red lights behind the vehicle which probably contributes the most in my experience to the feeling for the speed of the vehicle.
Having to click the mouse button once to change mode and then again to do the action was an annoyance. I don't see why holding down right click shouldn't automatically put you in the throwing mode and start the throw. As also stated by others, the collisions are a bit too annoying as they tend to cause the car to end up angled in a way that causes them to immediately collide with another wall. The
As some of the people have mentioned above, the collisions were the most annoying part, especially in tight corridors. The package throwing could've, in my opinion, been streamlined to just holding the right button to enter bullet time, and releasing to throw, which would immediately bring you back to the normal driving mode.
Overall, a very intense, cool, and unique experience. Good work!
I LOVE the driving physics.
I had a bit of difficulty getting used to Right Click + Right Hold to shoot.
But that's just criticising on a high level.
Also: nice humor/writing.
Really nice game overall!
but while playing it I did find the control scheme a bit unintuitive.
an option to hold right click to switch to the package mode and release your throw when you release the right mouse button would make it feel a lot smoother in my opinion rather then right click then right click again to throw package
Great work!!
The driving model is interesting. I think it might be more enjoyable in a track that is a little more open, but this tight city does lend itself to a more skills-based experience.
I think the abstract visual style is great, and I love the humor and theme. Great job!
i really like the originality of the driving controls, it felt kinda intuitive, however, the space between houses was sometimes too small, and i ended up bouncing on walls more than driving.
this game really has some speedrun potential
I would perhaps change the time dilation activation and charge up to be a single button press, the double tap you currently have to do makes it feel a little clunky.
A few quick ideas, since I am writing:
- maaaybe to add more challenge, the time dilation can be.. well, timed, haha. E.g. so you cannot have it for more than 1-2-3 seconds in a row (and then you have to be careful with driving again).
- additionally, maybe you could take *damage* so that crashing actually impacts your character, the car
Overall, awesome work :)
