The Linux version goes really really fast for me. That is, after the first stanza, I hit the right arrow, and the troll zipped through two or three screens until I encountered an enemy. Then I mashed some random buttons and more things zipped past. Pity, because this looks really interesting...

I liked this entry a lot. The aesthetic was charming and the fairy tale like narration was a good contrast to the twist ending. Speaking of which, why would you have the first screenshot be your game's ending. Don't get me wrong, I like it a lot but still. I was sort of spoilt. Anyway, the actual RPG mechanics were okay, however, I feel like there were two issues. The lack of sound effects and the fact that anything less than the most gentle of taps on my arrow keys seemed to shoot the selection off by like 3 squares. Other than that I feel this was one of the more creative and well executed entries of LD.

@pirate_shell we KINDA did that on purpose but after the third complaining I believe it is for the best to change the cover image

Great stuff, I hope everyone plays it right through. It could have been a very cheap ending but you pull it off.

Cool entry! I liked the pixel art and the voice over. Could have a little bit more gameplay, but as that is not really the point of the game it's fine :)

The writing and voice acting were good. The ending was really dark and I was not expecting that at all.
Some sound effects during combat would have been nice. What sound there was added a nice atmosphere.

Interesting entry. The poem is just awesome. I was going to nitpick about how it would be nice to see how much HP has the enemy and that "Don't meddle in the cave..." part was shown after the voiceover, a little late. But then, I got to the ending. Pretty great. Awesome. Loved it.

A very powerful game... It's definitely worth playing for the story and the ending alone! Great job with the writing and the narration, too.

It's great that our games almost have the same name! A bit weird. :P

Really nice narration, the mechanics works very well and the graphics are super duper cool. I wish there was a bit more sounds during the fights.

I really liked the narrative of this game.
I wasn't expecting the end! (Which gets extra theme points)
Its nice to be able to play jam game from begining to end.
The troll with tie was a nice touch.

The only thing I feelt could be better is the combat system.
It was too simple, though I liked that you don't run out of bottles.

Nice job!

The rhymes are fun. The graphics are pretty coherent… though maybe the font and UI elements should have chunkier pixels to match the rest of the art.
I thought the ending was a bit pat.

Some spoilers... I thought this was excellent, initially I though the gameplay options were limited, but then after the ending everything made sense and I realised what I had actually been doing when selecting my battle options. The orc begging for mercy made sense as well. I liked the verse and the overall fell of the game even before the end, but I didn't really expect that twist, I think you handled it well and it didn't feel like a cheap ending at all, great work everyone

28. Aug 2015 · 20:37 UTC
The ending was not forced had great atmosphere and the twist ending explained why he has those attacks.
A great improvement would be the subtle text that appear on the lower third "beg for mercy" is ok but you could give hints of real dialog used by the twist ending hinting that he may have some pauses of his "health potion" returning back home.
Overall it was a great play-though no bugs good atmosphere and hope you will evolve furtherer in creating more games.

Cheers,
<Alin Putinelu> (of Los Pixelados team)

A fine troll tale this all was
some sounds seemed to be missing
but overall the thing most crass
was the sad play's troubling ending.

The narration really helped set the mood.
Would have appreciated a few sound effects for the menus and battles.
I want to give this 6 stars for theme.

Great game! The first layer of story is fun enough. Not to mention there is 2nd layer of story to deepen the theme.

Wow!! The end is... ugh!! ... Unexpected...
The troll seems to be trolling while walking!! XD A dancing troll. And the enemies die after an extra turn, you know.
But It's a great game, I liked it! The sounds are very well done, and the combat system is very good. Congratulations!

The ending was a surprising and interesting take on the theme, nice to see a game push the theme further then what's expected. One thing I did find a bit distracting was the font. Think a pixel font would have worked really well with the great visuals of the game.

The Linux version needs to be fixed. When I press 'right' the first time, even if I release the key, it continues walking. And when it reaches the goblin It don't let me use the mouse to select an attack.

Okay so I go into this game thinking okay some walking to the right thing great totally haven't seen that before. Oh its got some story thats pretty neat this is a pretty good and then you guys fucking fuck me up. That twist was simply amazing and this game instantly went from pretty good to one of my favorite entries! Really good job!

Nice plot twist! One small thing to change: if the troll swears a few times, the enemy attacks do negative damage and start healing you instead of hurting you.

I feel this is one of the best takes on the theme, great job!

Love the story and graphics! The combat was a bit bugged (was hard choosing actions because it swapped too fast or on its own), and the font did not fit at all.

Amazing entry! We thought about narrating ours too, but we didn't have anyone with a cool enough voice. The concept is really great, I did not expect that and it was not forced at all. There was a little bug in the windows version: the cursor kept flashing in the middle of the screen

Oh, hey, someone besides me played LISA. Wohoo!

So I quite liked this game. Gives me the "white phosphorus scene" vibe from Spec Ops: The Line. Really like the aspect of walking through the very graveyard you've created. The fact that your (presumed) wife was wheelchair-bound makes the ending all the more tragic. Cool stuff!
