Your mission is to collect valuable resources and transport them to their final destination, all while navigating the hidden realms of outer space and cleverly combining the need and requirements of resources for each individual planet in your network.

Story

In the distant future, humanity has colonized the stars, but the vast distances between planets have made transportation of goods and resources a challenging task. To meet this challenge, the Warp-Optimized Order Transport (W.O.O.T.) was founded. W.O.O.T. is a state-of-the-art transport company that uses advanced warp technology to deliver goods across the galaxy faster and more efficiently than ever before.

But with great power comes great responsibility. As a delivery specialist working for W.O.O.T., you must carefully plan your routes and make strategic decisions to ensure the safe and timely delivery of valuable resources.

Gameplay

W.O.O.T. is a 2D game that challenges you to think strategically and creatively. Your goal is to connect delivery routes between planets to transport valuable resources, while collisions of trade routes and uncovering the outer space. You will need to use your wits to complete all required deliveries.

Controls

  • Use the mouse to select and connect planets
  • Hovering over a planet reveals a tooltip with further information
  • Connecting peripheral planets reveals new areas of space
  • ESC lets you leave the game
  • Use WASD-keys to explore the map or move the cursor to its borders

Planets

Each of the many planets in your galaxy comes with different resources and needs. It is your job to connect the correct planets with each other. Each planet has one ore more input resources and one output resource. You must identify which planets can deliver each other in order to fulfill as many deliveries as possible. To identify the needed resource, you should know what this galaxy is trading with:

Resources

resourcbasic.png

There are five known basic resources in this galaxy, which need to be delivered across planets (from left to right):

  • Dilithium is a crystalline mineral that is highly valued for its ability to regulate and amplify energy flows. It is commonly used in the construction of advanced energy systems, including warp drives and weapons. Due to its scarcity and importance, it is a highly sought-after resource in the intergalactic trade market.

  • Hydrogen fuel is a highly efficient and clean-burning fuel source that is commonly used to power spacecraft and other vehicles. It is produced by extracting hydrogen gas from water, which can be done using a variety of different methods. Due to its ubiquity and usefulness, it is a staple resource in the intergalactic trade market.

  • Xenoplankton is a type of microscopic organism that is found in the oceans of many alien planets. It is highly valued as a source of food and nutrients, and is a staple resource for many alien societies. Due to its importance and relative scarcity, it is a valuable commodity in the intergalactic trade market.

  • Terranite is a valuable and versatile metal that is commonly found on terrestrial planets. It is highly valued for its durability and resistance to corrosion, making it a popular material for the construction of advanced technologies and infrastructure. Due to its usefulness and abundance, it is a commonly traded resource in the intergalactic market.

  • Iridium is a dense and corrosion-resistant metal that is often used in the production of high-tech equipment and advanced weaponry. It is highly valued for its unique properties and relative rarity, and is often traded at a premium in the intergalactic market.

Additionally, there are four rare resources. Play the game to find and deliver them!

Thank you and ...

good luck, delivery specialist! We hope you enjoy playing W.O.O.T. and that you have a blast exploring the galaxy and completing your deliveries. Remember, the fate of the galaxy rests on your shoulders, so make every move count!

Intresting game, but i don't understant final goal for me as a player.
I'll try to connect planect as efficiently as possible - it was fun. When i try to connect planets in random order it was strange but i have as many links as i had when i doing it meaningfully.

Anyway game is pretty fun and intresting. It would be cool if you add a little bit of narrative by storytelling^^

There is a surprising amount of depth for a game made in just 72 hours, well done! The background music created the perfect atmosphere too. Ironically, when I played the game the rare resources showed up more often than some of the basic ones...

it was very satisfying to connect the planets together. And the graphics were very informative! I found it was kind of difficult to lose, but it was very chill and pleasant.

This game looks and feels great! Very satisfying vibe. I made 150+ links and got lots of resources. I feel like I could keep going indefinitely. Nice job!

Awesome work on this! The visuals were super clear and readable despite having to convey a lot of information. The linking mechanic is very intuitive to understand, but I feel like it could be taken in a lot of different directions. My only complaint was I didn't really understand the end goal, as another commenter has mentioned. I feel like this could be a really good basis for a competitive turn-based game, where players are competing for resources and trying to establish links while cutting off optimal options for their opponents. I'm excited to see where this one goes, hope you keep working on it!

Neat game! I enjoyed seeing my trade empire grow, and i like the idea of the planets complementing each other by giving/taking resources. it would have been cool to see the lore and resource explanations implemented in the game itself, and with a story to drive the gameplay. But it was still a fun and chill game. Music was great. well done!

This is my favourite game so far this jam, I loved the chill puzzle solving vibe it has. Nice work!

Some kind of progression where it gets more challenging to make connections further from the starting planets would go a long way to enhance the replayability.
