Jam

This time I was working alone. I wanted to make a physics-based game with vehicles. I did not make a physical car before, so it was a learning experience for me. I know that car parameters could be better tuned, but as always there is too little time to finish everything :) Maybe gameplay is not at its highest, but I like how the mechanics turned out.

Description

Your job is to deliver all packages to recipients. You have cars, and special ability: DELIVERER VISION.

It allows you to see cargomantic lines connecting package with the recipient. The closer they are, the thicker the lines.

Controls

LMB - Grab/Interact

WSAD - Movement

Space - Jump / Breaks

E - Interact/Leave Car

RMB - DELIVERER VISION!!!

Tools Used

Unity

Audacity

Blender

Muy lindo, aunque con la sensibilidad es difícil de controlar

I love the 3d delivery truck model. Did you make it yourself? It looks great! Great work on your game :)

Awesome game! I love the concept of doing a physics-based game for this genre (I did a similar direction in my game), its quite funny and fits the theme well. Nice work on the driving controls as well, could always be improved but for the jam its not bad at all.

Sorry bro but the controls are WAAAAY to sensitive, they made me sick to my stomach, Sorry because the game looks like fun. Just change your rotation speed on your axis tilt stuff

Super fun, if it weren't for the high sensitivity of the camera it would be much better, Very good.

Fits the theme really well! I wish it was bit easier to order the packages, the deliverer vision is a bit hard to read at the beginning with so many packages

The deliverer vision is a really cool idea, but I feel like having to deliver all 56 packages is a bit much. It might be more interesting if it was smaller levels?

It was a bit confusing to me on why I would need deliverer vision for packages I wasn't carrying. It also didn't seem to get bigger as I got closer. Might make more sense to have it change color as well?

I feel like you'd also want some more exciting movement mechanics, since that's sort of the meat of the game once you pick stuff up, but nice job on the submission!

As a former deliveryman, I can say that this game is scarily realistic. It is tedious and quite boring, and you do start to question your life choices after about 20 minutes (just like in a real delivery job).

So, as a _game_, it would probably work better as a score attack thingy. You get 5 parcels and have to deliver them in time, then you return to base and do it all again. Same mechanics, slightly different context.

But as a game jam entry where time is super limited (especially if you're working solo), it's decent. It's impressive that you have all these core mechanics working really well together, and the game is quite pretty on top of that.

@agushmar , @thegameoverguy , @serialkamikaze , @neo97 @beebster-games , @alexsandro , @zantze , @gametrodon, @apple-dash - Thanks for your comments!

@thegameoverguy - Yes. I modeled it myself the during jam. Thanks!

@beebster-games , @alexsandro - Yes. I was going to add sensitivity slider or something, but did not have time for this. Maybe I will change this in next version.

@zantze - good idea

@gametrodon - Yes. I added to many packages. Also lines with change is hard to see when you are far away. It could be more fine-tooned if I spend more time with it or add color (wchich is good idea), but I decided it's good enough for jam game and moved on to other tasks to finish the game

@apple-dash I was targeting sandbox-like game, but you are right. Score attack could be much better. I think that for sandbox to work, there need be more things to do.

"Delivery sense" is a really nice touch, perhaps it could apply only to closest packages to reduce visual clutter

I enjoyed driving around with open doors and seeing how boxes move around on turns, crashing, jumping on hills outside city :)

Good job considering time constraints!

I thought the van handled pretty well. I could turn well and slow down in time. The turning is pretty sharp but it didn't hamper my experience. The package vision lines were a super cool mechanic and really easy to understand where to go. I loved that idea.

Graphics were great and I liked the colors. First person view was a little hard to move around in and pick up packages but that's my only small nitpick. I might have preferred just staying in the van and launching packages from it.

I say this is a pretty solid entry.

The physics is so fun to play with. Thanks for the game!

Loved the van ! Hoped there was nothing too fragile in those boxes :)
A bit confusing to distinguish which package goes where when you have a lot inside the truck though :/

Overall it's quite impressive !

Firstly, brave choice on making a first person game in such short period.

The gameplay is nice, I feel is more like a delivery simulation (and I like simulation games). Controls need some work but it does not spoil the game.

The delivery lines could be optimized to show only packages near the player, its a bit chaotic showing all packages at once, but overall it was a creative gameplay mechanic.

Looking forward to see you next entries on LDs. Congrats.

I can't believe that cargomantic vision is not yet an industry standard!

A neatly polished entry with an (initially) fun premise. The amount of packages was daunting, but I guess that's essential for the true delivery driver experience, huh? I gave up after 2 deliveries.

The web build ran OK on a potato btw, bonus points for that.

Really fun, the delivery vision is really cool, the sound effect when you deliver a package is really funny, i have to agree that the many lines of delivery vision is very confusing, maybe making the one of the package you are holding red or just showing nearby packages/houses ones could be clearer, anyways really fun entry, good job
