It also seems that the html5 build is not working in MacOS in any browser. From the Godot 4 official documentation:
>Godot 4's HTML5 exports currently cannot run on macOS and iOS due to upstream bugs with SharedArrayBuffer and WebGL 2.0. We recommend using macOS and iOS native export functionality instead, as it will also result in better performance.
I would suggest improving the gameplay by adding something when the baby is delivered. Currently, it's possible to "lock" some beds by never getting the baby, allowing to focus on one single bed. Having the mums getting angry if you never come and pick up the baby would be a simple fix.
Nice take on the theme!
The music is a bit too repetitive. I'd advise that you don't use a piano when it's the only instrument. I found that the repeated "tapping" sound of the piano becomes annoying quickly, compared to using an oboe or violin for the same melody. That being said, it's cool that you took the time to create the music, and the sound effects are fun!
Mothers gesturing with their middle finger made me laugh :D
Good work!
The distance between beds and cribs was perfect, you always had to stay on your toes to make sure you have all four beds under control, there were some nailbiter moments with the outer beds, that made gameplay very exciting. The art when the mothers are getting more and more angry was super funny too. Great job on this game!
@icarusdev2 - Thanks for the feedback. I tried to keep the doctor's speed constant and adjust the other variables to "balance" the game. When the doctor was too fast I had trouble handling everything even if I could get further faster.
Fun to see someone's version of a game we almost went for. Loved the middle fingers lol.
I saw you mentioned experimenting with instruments in another comment. If you would like some realistic sounding sample libraries to play around with, here are some free ones I know about:
Spitfire LABS
Orchestral Tools SINEfactory
Project SAM (Haven't used it myself but it seems to sound pretty good, requires the verison of Kontakt Player)
+ You could keep the exclamation points for when the mother has a baby as she is annoyed she didn't get the pain killers before having it and is getting annoyed that you're not taking the baby from her.
@kuggenhoffen - Thanks for playing!
@xfinktion - I really need to start experimenting with music in between Jams, I'm a coder and it is my weakest spot. Thanks for all the recommendations, I will have a look over the weekend!
@ellaris - I will probably extend a bit the game once the ludum dare is over. I had many ideas on how to continue but I had no time (I was going to make the babies poop if it took too long to be picked from mum or the doctor carried them for too long). I will prototype your suggestion too, it could work and be easy to implement.
Goofy fun. Good escalation, I liked how things got out of hand.
The gameplay is easy to understand, and the instructional text also helps a great deal. After a while it became a bit monotonous, and by refusing to place the babies in the cribs I made it a lot easier.
All in all a great and funny submission, well done!
@bea - Thanks for playing. Happy you like it.
@drtizzle - Thanks for the feedback! And yes, I think the charm of this 48h game is all the handmade in-a-rush stuff. It is suboptimal but it is fun.
@aeveis - I guess I never thought past the "a short game of a few minutes", so I will need to think about the progress and how to increase the difficulty and variety.
@wetburritosupreme - Thanks for playing
