The Witch House by bacontree

You're a witch going to visit her aunt. When you get there she's packed all her stuff on her broom to go to a warmer country. She leaves her empty house to you, so you need to collect new furniture. A task made more difficult by the fact that she dropped a barrel full of angry frogs that have now spread throughout the city.

The game is made in Unreal Engine 5.7. I spent the entire first day sculpting and texturing the main character. I rigged her with like the standard Unreal Engine skeleton structure is set up so I could retarget the animations from the Unreal engine mannequin.

I spent most of the second day doing a modular kit of small pieces that could be assembled to build houses, and that's how I created the village. I also made the battle system so you could fight the frogs, and character models for the frogs and the aunt, which are both modified versions of the main character.

The third day I assembled the city, added the speech bubbles, implemeted the story and the progression of the game and composed the music.

Thanks for sharing your game with everyone! I don't think I quite finished collecting everything, but it was fun to trot around the village. I think it might've been a little more fun to move faster through the space, since there's some kinda long stretches of jogging — either that or maybe a smaller village?

My computer might be a bit too old, so there were occasional small lags. I really like the modeling of the main character—it looks so cute! When I read the game introduction, I thought the frog would be the kind that hops around on the ground, but during gameplay, I discovered it’s a standing melee combat master! I fought many frogs and collected quite a bit of furniture! Great game.

For games with a high degree of unity, I will give their graphics a very high score.

I really loved the art style. I felt like movement speed was a bit slow though (even while sprinting).

Wow, you got a lot done for a game jam! I did like it but I didn't play too long because the character moves through the space too slowly (actually the movement speed felt good, the space just felt way too big). But that's a me problem. So anyway, good job, great entry!

The character models are very cute and the music is lovely with a sweet and slightly melancholy vibe to it. Well done!
