Bugs Fixed post release:

fixed broken dungeon generation was broken on day 2/3 causing tunnels to clip through spawn (did ‘and’ instead of ‘or’ while checking for blocks)

fixed broken seeds on loading (shop seed overwrote map seed)

updated the engine's rendering pipeline to (hopefully) fix textures being missing on some hardware

really liked graphics and physics based movement/animations, cool

I really love these sort of fever-dream feelings when playing games. The movement is really fun. I think for a Jam it might be nicer to front load the content a bit, unfortunately my hand got stuck behind an object just after returning a relic. Thanks!

I found it enjoyable. I wish there was a web version.

@hymirth lol was it the relic exchange altar? I knew I should have put it further from the wall. If you quit to menu, and then click continue it should respawn you unstuck.

bugfix disclosure: dungeon generation was broken slightly(in code characters lol, in game it was game breaking) causing tunnels to clip through spawn because I set the wrong seed and did 'and' instead of 'or' while checking for blocks, lol sleepy mistakes!

I am sorry to say this but game feels really weird, chaotic and super unfinished. The idea seem fun and player character animation is funny. But the gameplay did never really work for me, and it's often difficult to understand what is happening and why.

Great hand-drawn doodles, and even more stylish to see them in 3D!

@baluj yeah, depending on what it takes to add webgl support for my engine I'm hoping to have web player ready for the next ludum dare!

@jk5000 It's supposed to be weird and chaotic to represent the magical catastrophe, but yeah I didn't have time to polish much, this is a solo dev game jam game after all. When you talk about the gameplay being difficult to understand, do you mean that as in "the goal is unclear" or "the fighting mechanics are opaque" - also I'm guessing you didn't get far enough to buy a weapon? Perhaps I should make it so you start with a coin so you can buy something day one.

I think I had more fun flailing around then actually playing the game. My teammate made it to the top of the hill in the map. Had fun, didn't know what to do with the teasure chests though. Not exactly sure if we had to open then before taking them back or what. Good Entry! Played for maybe 20 minutes or so.

This game plays like how it feels to try to run in a dream

I had a blast with the first 5-10 minutes Just goofing around outside of the dungeon. However, when I finally went inside I had I tough time with the combat and couldn't figure out what to do with the treasure. I tried smashing it to open it and I couldn't return it to the relic depositor. Overall I had a lot of fun messing around with the movement and see what you were going for! I also really liked the characters lol

Well done :)

@ghost-in-the-toast @conduit ah! I see there's a bug where you have to actually drop the relic in order to return it! That's awesome you got all the way up there though! I think I'mma develop the idea some more and put some kind of secret up there :P

Edit: fixed the grabbing bug and dungeon gen bug in version 1.0.1! :D

Loved the "hand drawn" surreal 3D art, really leant into the atmosphere

Too low fps on rtx3070. The game overall is cute. I don't think the game needs such large open spaces.

Too much empty locations. But overall, well done.

@denissobolev what fps did you get, if you hit F3 it'll show some debug info including graphics and physics tick rates. I'm surprised you had bad framerate as my main dev machine also has a 3070 and I verified consistent 60+fps at 4k on mine. There is resolution scaling though also, in Options->Display->Quality you can turn down the internal resolution.

@paulsams @denissobolev What large open spaces exactly? Are you guys exploring around the castle or talking about inside the archives/dungeon? I'd love to work all this feedback into a post jam version of the game!

Would have loved to give it a try, but I couldn't get it to run on CrossOver.

Very very clunky and cursed game but like in a really good way ! I just loved the atmosphere, I can't tell exactly why but this game is unique.

Some cool visuals and environments, ragdoll games are always difficult. What engine is this made in? Movement speed shouldn't be tied to FPS.
LDJam user 410492
Oct 10th · 17:10 UTC
@zircon123 It's a custom low level engine! That's strange you had a movement slowdown though, since graphics and physics are completely decoupled, and the physics runs on a dynamic timestep - unless you're getting really bad physics tick rate (like sub 20 ticks per second). If it's not too much bother, I'd love to see a screenshot of the game running on your system with the F3 debug stats menu open! (also what're your pc specs?)

This game is so broken that it's actually funny. I flew around the entire map on a rope, periodically oneshoting myself :D
The game has some lighting issues, with many surfaces often appearing completely black, but overall this isn't a dig deal. Had fun, good luck on jam!

@x2shadow hell yeah lol, thanks! This is a custom engine, so I haven't had a ton of opportunities to test it on various hardware, mind answering a few questions to guide my bugfixing? What gfx card do you have, and did you play version 1.0.2 or 1.0.3?

@katastudios I played 1.0.3 on rtx3060 on windows 10

I didn't get very far , I did what others did and bounced into the wilderness instead of into the dungeon, so spent about 10 minutes wandering to the farlands. :sob:

I really enjoyed the character design and animation, though it was a little slow to get into the action.

The dungeon creatures were intense though

I wanted to rate your game but saw that you only have the most recent build on itch with the latest update to it (as of writing this) 11 hours ago, and no note what changed from the original version to the most current one.

To the game: I didn't play very far because the movement system was beyond annoying. I found it really hard to just move in a straight line. The atmosphere however was spot on and for a custom game engine, absolutely impressive that you pulled a game off in 72 hours. If there were an original version of the game available or even change logs to the post jam-deadline version Id love to give it another try and give you a rating, but as it stands I would find that unfair to those games, that finished their work within the given time frame.

This is a mix between amazing and horrible - a bit like "Getting over it with Bennett Foddy" xd

I LOVE the character movement and might look into your code just to try to get a hunch on what exactly is happening.
Characterdesigns, dungeon generation, overall physics - everything just works, and actually feels really fitting - even tho on the other hand it really just doesn't work xd

Had by far the most laughs with this game - would recommend you to try to create some "get all the way up" platformer type of game with this - the physics and player movements do look like it could be a lot of fun and frustration to try to get yourself to the top of a tower or something! :D

Had the pleasure of getting lost in nearly full darkness on my first day in the dungeon, but luckily i found my way out x.x
