Raft Collectr by logicalinsanity

[raw]
made by logicalinsanity for Ludum Dare 58 (JAM)

Just a random little solo jam to try to remember some basics about Godot.

I wish I had gone with a bigger resolution for the assets, haha. Ah well.

Just use your mouse (or touch) to move! Collect flotsam to help your stranded raft stay afloat.

Avoid the mines.

A cozy and relaxing game
The mines kind of look like sea urchin lol

Good main mechanic, it's simple yet provides a smoothly increasing difficulty curve and satisfaction as you see the boat growing. Very good example where collection is increasing the stakes of the game in a direct way. Well done

It's not bad, but the controls are very unclear, at first it doesn't feel like we're influencing anything and it just seems like we're drifting, but over time I noticed that there's movement towards the mouse.

Such a chill game! I wasn't sure which ones were the mines vs the flotsam at first, so I just drifted around avoiding everything initially.

Really like the concept. Stacking your raft is really fun. I would have liked the camera to zoom out more as the raft get's bigger. And loosing all your stuff with a big raft when you get hit once, is a bit punishing. I also like the quirky stick man art, feels nostalgic. Good Job

Thanks @Towercrane! I'm no music theory expert but just some simple C Major cords on repeat haha.

My first boat, seconds before disaster.

I'd describe this as zen-like, y'know until mines spawn every which way.

I agree with @grummelchen about the camera zooming out, that'd be both helpful and satisfying.

Art style and music create a nice mood. I personally would have enjoyed if the flotsam would protect from the mines, i.e., just a few of them explode and not everything. And keyboard controls would be also nice. Anyway, it shows that simplistic games can still be fun.

Nice simple concept! It was challenging enough to be interesting to play through a few times. Nice choice for a learning game too, excellent work.

What a game! Just enough going on to keep me entertained, I think the best games are like this with really quick to understand mechanics, and then a point where it dawns on you the impact of your choices! I made it to 1510!

Cute game. Loved the art and sound. My final score was 324. I collected 14 flotsam. Wished I could sprint a little. But I guess I must roll with the waves, eh. Good job.

Simple and chill, nice work. Fun to build my raft into a wacky shape

This one is pretty fun! It starts a bit slow for my taste, but it was also rather satisfying getting to carefully slot in flotsam, especially during the later stages where you have less control over where everything goes. The graphics were also rather charming, and I really appreciate the inclusion of an options menu. My high score was 2134, but I think I could have done a little bit better if I hadn't distracted myself trying to take a screenshot ![Screenshot 2025-10-21 150459.png](///raw/a90/14/z/6f863.png)![Screenshot 2025-10-21 150513.png](///raw/a90/14/z/6f864.png)

Loved the game I wasn't that good at stacking so I only got up to 443 lol, only thing I would have added would be a directional arrow for direction and like others have said zooming out as you grow your size!
