Do Not The Mushroom! by Rionisse

логотип 15.png You are sent deep underground into a toxic cavern system. Your task is simple: to harvest rare fungi. It’s a dangerous job that puts your health at risk, but by completing the harvest quota, you can repay your debt to the government.

photo2025-10-0700-30-09.jpg

You can collect mushrooms and haul them to the extractor station. For each specimen you deliver, the government will reduce a portion of your debt.

It may be tempting to do some of the delicacies yourself, though... But remember — do NOT the mushroom!

Awesome looking game, love the glow visuals and the vfx! I will say that the motion blur is really harsh and I wish there was a pause or quit button to easily exit the window.

Great game! I like the way that eating has both upsides and downsides which you need to manage.

I do wish that I could check the name of the mushroom in my hand without having to throw it to the ground. I guess if you play the game enough you will start recognising the pictures.

@ira-baciu sadly, the project is too complex for web.

Loved all the effects the mushrooms had on you. Difficult but not impossible, barely managed to complete the game. Great work!

web version may be better, cool FX and response, nice little game.

I really enjoyed trying to find all the different mushrooms and seeing what kind of effects they would have on the character.
Visually it looks quiet interesting, but i found it's quiet visually busy so its really hard to focus on one particular area of the game, and makes it easy to get a bit disorientated.
There were a few performance issues with it being quiet laggy.
I wasn't sure if there was a progress meter on how much i more i had to deposit. That could be made a bit more clear.
Fun concept and an enjoyable experience.

The game: don't eat the mushrooms!
Me for the first 10 mins: eating all the mushrooms to see the effect.

It was fun to play though.
Sometimes you start taking damage without even eathing a shroom, I didn't understand where this damage came from, but my guess is it's just a bug.

@nohopeoutthere It was hunger, probably. It should be displayed with this icon. ![Hunger.png](///raw/3b5/3/z/6e892.png)

Love the art and the mushroom themed adventure. Overall a good solid entry, still I wish it had focused more on collecting mushrooms and getting upgraded by eating mushrooms to get permanent effect to progress through the level and get to previously unavailable mushroom spots (kinda reminds me of Abiotic Factor level design a bit here), instead of trying to survive on a timer that requires you to eat those mushrooms :)

@raylond Yeah, that was definitely the plan! We had planned 3 zones that would be unlocked through creative use of the obtained effects. But sacrifices had to be made in order to finish the game in a feature-complete and playable state.

I really like the visuals and idea although my pc did not like the performance quite as much ^^. Some feedback though if you want to keep working on the project: The first time I died from hunger without understanding what it was. Also you take dmg nearly immediately when you get hungry. It would have been nice to get a warning a little before hand or a timer running out like with the effects. Regarding the effects some were cool and funny to try, others I did not quite understand what they did. And the amount of mushrooms is maybe a little low to get to 1000 if you do not know beforehand where everything is. I died of hunger in my last try, because I handed them in and had to eat some for hunger so I got to 800 or something. And a quit button would be nice.
Its a cool concept though and the vibe was really nice ^^

@cgraen Wow! Thanks for the elaborate feedback! Yeah, we will look if we are able to expand the game later. Core loop and effects telegraphing needs improvement, that's for sure, but we'll see!

I love the lights and the scene. But I think the camera is moving too fast, and I suppose there can be some signals for collecting areas.Great work!

Looks fantastic and I like mushrooms too, but why the hell 75% of CPU ? :) Would be cool to see a full game in this style

LOVE the visual style and the idea! Mushroom effects are so much fun.

Sadly I need a better GPU to play this properly; my laptop is brand new but it has integrated GPU and it wasn't enough for the graphics, so I didn't have enough FPS in my mushroom trip.

@electric-sun You need to earn 1000 points. Your current points are displayed in the top right corner of the screen and also duplicated on top of the extractor.

Cool game! Great to explore different mushroom effects with the bizarre interplay of an alien planet (and forgot to collect)

Very fancy environment and was fun just wandering around gobbling everything up to see what effects you got stacked up. In return it was gobbling up my CPU and GPU!

Love the concept and how the mushrooms give different powerups and debuffs! The visuals are also very nice. Wish I could change the look sensitivity, and I did find some of the parkour a little bit broken (you can fall through the rocks), but it was a fun experience!

Despite the fact that the game is in 3D, its world managed to create a feeling like playing old quest games with alien worlds)

Beautiful surroundings, but it lags on my RTX 3060, barely playable. I did about 5 runs and still didn't understand the mechanics with the mushrooms. In the end, I figured out that you need to score 1000 points. The most I could score was 990, and then I died of hunger. Hunger is very cruel here, it clearly needs to be made easier.

For example, I see a mushroom at the top and I understand that I need a jumping mushroom, but which one is it? There are so many of them, and try to remember where it was. There is no quick restart button. Okay, I found the mushroom, ate it, and the effect wears off very quickly, but I manage to jump there somehow.

Amazing work! It’s super interesting and has a vert unique way to paraphrase the theme, good job! And welcome to give our game a try! :)

This game is really interesting! The gameplay is simple but it's the visuals that really grabs me. Stunning art turns the caverns and mushrooms into something special. The atmosphere is amazing and makes every trip exciting. But I think the timer mechanic isn't exactly what this beautiful game needs, where you want to savor the atmosphere, not be overwhelmed by the countdown. And unfortunately, it lagged terribly on my Linux.
Good luck with your future development, guys!
