The game would be even better if there was some variety to combat: some ranged or area weapons, consumables, something to add more tactical depth to the game. Right now, combat felt too repetitive to me.
Still, I got to the ending and my pirate crew retired to life in luxury. 😁
I love the music track, though the music loop is a little too short. Great story, art style, and gameplay!
Graphics are gorgeous and the music / sound effects fit really well.
At first I did not know who the enemies were, which was a bit confusing. Maybe because I normally don't really play RPG-turnbased fighting games. Maybe the enemies could have had a little red dot above them? Or something else that indicaties "these guys are trouble"
Also, make sure to upload a cover image, it will give people an idea what the game is about. And make sure to rate + feedback other people's games, so yours will bubble towards the top. You'll get your minimum of 20 ratings much quicker
Edit: congratz on your first LD-entry!!
On the first level I was confused about who was an ally and who was an enemy, but after a couple of clicks it became clear. I think simple red/green color-coding would help a lot here. Otherwise, the interface is intuitive, and the battle pacing holds your attention without dragging turns out. The game feels solid and shows promise, there’s room to add more depth.
Overall a very solid foundation, atmospheric, clear, and tactically engaging. The game has the potential to grow into something bigger while preserving its current charm. Good game!
Great game! Seeing a tactical RPG in a game jam is an unexpected but welcome sight. Would have liked more tactical options than melee attacks though, even a simple window to check each character's stats would have helped. The graphics and maps look very nice and the story is fun and self-aware. The whole package is very solid!
I had an issue in the second map where a character teleported after attacking and the game stopped accepting input, not sure what caused that. Maybe the attack UI button intersected with another character and clicking it activated both at once?
