Nebula FM by Chariot

[raw]
made by Chariot for Ludum Dare 58 (JAM)

Nebula FM is losing listeners fast. Across the galaxy, no one is tuning in anymore. Then mysterious sources of resonance are discovered on distant worlds. You are sent to harvest these signals and turn them into the sickest space beats the universe has ever heard. Build production lines, refine raw resonance, and keep the rhythm alive, because the future of intergalactic radio depends on you!

PLEASE NOTE:

We had some difficulties implementing the conveyor belts, but we managed to fix most of the issues, and the game is finally working. There may still be a few edge cases where the belts don’t behave as expected.

I rated what I could given the elements which are not working, are you planning to continue development?

I really love the art and the sfx for placing and removing. Sadly i just down know how to play the game, i put stuff on the ground and idk if I'm doing something or not xd. Either way, love the art.

Bummer the conveyor belt didn't make it in. Spent a decent amount of time being very confused before I read that message.

Visuals look really good though, love the pixel art! Oh, and just a heads up having an action boundto the esc key makes trying to play in full screen mode a bit of a hassle.

@threeli Thank you! Yes, we are definitely still working on it and would love to give you all a build with a lot more visible functionality :)

@guardianmad Thanks for playing! Yeah - that is what we got working up until the deadline. The conveyor belt system which is supposed to connect those machines with the radio station is currently not fully working, but we are working hard on fixing it! We hope you will try playing it again, once we do.

@asieke Thank you for trying it out :) We will think on re-mapping the ESC action (as well as removing the R for reload feature, mentioned above, haha). Hopefully we have a more complete build the next coming days and you will try it out once more.

Really nice artwork. The placement system seemed to work pretty well and its unfortunate yall didnt have time to finish the conveyorbelt.

It looks really nice and the idea seems to be cool, but I couldn't find out how to play it :(
I can see that conveyor belt isn't working, so I guess that's it...

I didn't quite understand the concept and what to do in the game, but later I found out that some things don't work. Don't get upset if you don't have time for something, it's an experience! I really like the general restrained style and the dude who looks after me and sends me hearts)
I would like to interact with him for fun.

Hey there :) I really like the premise of the game, I thoroughly enjoyed the graphics, the sfx, the little Jimbo standing around! <3 It's a shame the conveyor belt doesn't work, but it's a great bass (hehe) for something more. I can't wait to see what you can do with it!

@thegrottman Thank you so much for your comment, we love that you enjoy the premise and what we have managed to put together! The conveyor belts work a little better now, but there is definitely still potential to make them even better. We aim to continue working on this project. Keep up to date with it over on itch! :)

@mrpaket Mister Nebula FM likes you too - and he was a favorite of ours as well. In coming builds (after the jam, over on itch) we will add more instructions to make the core mechanics of the game more clear.

To summarize: Place collectors near sources, move notes with conveyor belts, feed them to the radio station ... profit? :)

Hey y'all, thank you so much for trying our game even though it was barely playable!! Your feedback means a lot to us <3 We finally were able fixed the conveyor belts so notes can now be transported to the radio station and the game is actually playable now!! q.q

Big thank you to you guys!

Love the art style and visual polish! I was able to get notes moving with the conveyor belts. It would be nice to have a drag option for building out conveyors, eg. click on one tile and then drag 5 tiles away and it would add all the conveyors in-between. Of course that's not at all straight forward to program so I don't begrudge you not having it in a jam game :)

Good work overall!

That's awesome! Loved the idea and art style! My melody turned out pretty lame but I enjoyed building the lanes

Interesting idea and very nice art style, but the UI makes it incredibly hard to play. For instance having to reselect the same conveyor belt all the time and having to guess which corner to use and to rotate it the right way (and trying to figure out which way it is currently pointing). Also it looks like the buildings can’t be chained to each other, they always need conveyor belts (which is kinda hard given the space constraints)? Then I trying resetting, and it wouldn’t tell me anymore the notes I need, not sure why.
