TCG Star by Cosmic Adventure Squad

Introducing TCG Star! Made entirely on our phones and tablets, enjoy a relaxing game about ripping open packs of trading cards to collect all the rarities. Can you find the secret rare?

————

So we thought we wouldn’t be able to participate in Ludum since we were traveling internationally AND didn’t have our computers. However we were able to find a way to squeeze in a day for a quick jam (yay jetlag)! It helped that we scoped a super simple incremental game experience when we saw the theme, Collector.

@strega had to learn GDevelop Mobile for this, and our musician was unavailable so @rosypenguin had to make all the sounds. Pixelart done with Pixquare. We were out of our comfort zones but had a blast!

I can save a fortune by just playing this game instead of the real deal :) It was satisfying, specially when you got the rare ones. Well done!

Simple and effective! I could totally see this as an auto clicker game with a fantastic theme (as I love TCG's).

Very polished core mechanic, but I felt myself wanting more about a little while

I don't like trading cards in real life but I like it when I don't have to pay for them! :money_with_wings:
Pretty straight forward idea but so well executed for one day. Well done, as always!

I love how tightly scoped and well executed this entry felt--especially considering it was made on mobile devices, for mobile devices!

Very simple yet addicting clicker/idler game! The cards may be fake, but the dopamine hits on the ultra and secret rares are real! 😆

I kind of wish the auto-open speed scaled a bit higher for how expensive it is compared to other upgrades. I was hoping it would get to hilarious bonkers-level lightspeed opening when maxed. The first few levels of upgrade almost feel like a waste of money. But hey, that's just a nitpick.

Big kudos to your team for making something awesome while on the go!

Cool game and surprisingly addicting. I got an ultra rare within the first few cards so that got me to a good start😂. I also love how clean the aesthetics of this game are. The use of color is really smart. Also the sounds made me full of dopamine so 10/10. Great job!

Expected a card game, but found a clicker. Pretty funny 😁 loved the interactions' design. Pretty addictive even if the gameplay and card's pictures are simple.

Pretty simple clicker. But its impressive that you made it on mobile. I didn't even know gdevelop. Looks really good too!

Though the mechanics is simple the game looks so stylish and polished! Everything interacts so smoothly - animations and sounds add up game in whole. Amazing how you managed to make it using only mobile tools!

A very simple, functional idea, well-executed, and on-topic. I'd love to have an idea like that one day.

Congratulations

I got a rare card on first click then proceeded to get commons. This is realistic af experience and I love the way that it is themed. Clicking to open the pack - I'll be honest - I didn't even consider it as an incremental / clicker game, despite reading about the game, when I was clicking. This is powerful and speaks a lot about how you went for the "good player interaction" angle. Well done!

Yay it's the Cosmic Adventure Squad! I love your games and this one is pretty cool too!
You took the theme and boiled it right down to its essence, this is such a good idea for a game!

Very cool little experience. I wish there was a bit more to it, but the fact that y'all were able to make this entirely on your phones is crazy.

Ohhhh >////< such an amazing game!
I got totally addicted and kept clicking for so long >///< then left it running until I maxed out the two tech trees at the bottom.
By the end, every single card was secret rare!

The card art has this strangely appealing vibe, and the shiny effect on the orange cards looks so awesome! >///< I love it so much!!
