Cellmate by thejackimonster

[raw]
made by thejackimonster for Ludum Dare 58 (JAM)

This is a small game that plays inside a prison. You shall play cards at the table with other people collecting cards of each kind to burn them towards victory. Have fun!

  • Game plays with W/A/S/D for movement and SPACE/ENTER for interacting with NPCs.
  • I did not implement a proper restart mechanic. So please restart or refresh (in web) for that. ^^'

hmm already a third game about cards... is there some card holiday at the moment or something like that? i liked the graphics but i really don't like card games:) so i mainly walked on the location. Really nice!

Interesting contrast between the isometric RPG style and a card game. Must have taken a lot of time to implement. Only feedback i have is perhaps that movement could be a little faster.
Well done, i enjoyed it!

Nice! Can't believe you implemented all of solitaire as a mini game hah

You crammed a ton of work into this, really a stellar effort for the time given. Also, I'm a sucker for all the little interesting details - feels like a cool little show don't tell worldbuilding vibe. I'll probably come back to this one when I've got more time (and after some sleep!)

I've done the whole tile based area in the first 24 hours and the Solitaire was done on the second day for the most part. It was definitely ready in last minute for the given time window with credits and all (forgot sounds for the cards to be honest - haha). I can definitely recommend Godot for projects like this!

Good old Solitair. I think I've found a bug. I just gave away a stack of cards into the right corner and now I can't finish the set :x
Interesting idea overall. The movement speed could be faster or the map could be a little bit smaller. I liked the graphics of the cards.

@rhewid Some rounds might not finish, I assume. I figured that something like this could happen but I still wanted to give it the twist that burning down cards requires some planning ahead to win.

Wow, great art in so little time, the prison environment is grim but cool and moody. I like the facial animation on our guy as we walk around. Cool soundtrack too. The solitaire was a bit glitchy though — I think there is a bug in mouse position tracking as placing cards in their spot gets physically harder and harder as the game goes. Had to restart a couple of times to fix it. Enjoyed it still, good work!

It is a cool twist for the classic solitaire. I am not much experienced in card games, but all the mechanics I tried where finished, and that is a huge accomplishment in 48 hours. The mixed gameplay is very creative and overall, for me is a solid entry!!

Nice entry, I didn't play solitaire in a long time :) - I also like the graphics, but I agree the movement could be a bit faster.

cool game, i didn't expect someone to recreate solitaire, the player movement feels a bit slow at the start, but the graphics were very good and the game itself was enjoyable ^^

The mood is 10/10!! Love the music especially. Not good at solitaire, but that's not your problem XD

The music and prison graphics give it a nice moody atmosphere. The burning card effect was cool as well. Implementing the whole of solitaire is impressive.

The game feels a little confusing (and I do play solitaire often), i was able to add all the cards in the playing area to the random pile and just cheese it from there because the cards would not stack in the playing area.
That said, I really loved the music and the atmosphere!

Really liked the atmosphere and graphics of your game! I love playing solitaire so I was really happy to win haha
Just some issues I encountered while playing: the card symbols were sometimes changing so it was a bit confusing (diamond looking like a sphere on some cards?) and when I clicked on the draw pile for the first time, the cards disappeared before I could use them!

I love Solitaire! I liked the visuals and burning cards was oddly satisfying. The music really gets you in the mood. Had some issues placing cards as you need to be precise. Besides that, it's quite fun and a cool entry, nice work!

This is so funny!
I played solitaire while listening to scary music and I loved it! :)
A very original idea! :)
