Masterpiece or Forgery by oller125

[raw]
made by oller125 for Ludum Dare 58 (COMPO)

You're an art collector looking to acquire new pieces for your collection. However, some people are trying to sell you forgeries! You only have 2 minutes to get through all of them.

Mouse over the paintings to uncover clues to whether these are the real deal, or fakes.

If I had more time I would add more variety to the objects (not just paintings) and clues.

Managed to finish it first shot!

I loved the hints and the overall game. Music was on the point as well as the nice graphics. Very curious to know how you managed to mimick those painting so well XD

Cool concept, would be fun to have a run with made up paintings and different clues. Graphics are very good, music fits the scene :D

Fun and unique idea, definitly fits the theme. At first I was very confused by it using real artworks but fake details, and thought that was what I was checking against. Maybe it would've been better not to do that to avoid confusion. Well done overall!

Fun concept. Could use a little more feedback on the end of the day screen. Would be a cool idea with some more depth. Thanks for the game

Fun little project - it's neat that you don't reveal which ones you got right so that you have the opportunity to try again to do better. Although on the other hand I found myself wishing there was a way to see whether the clues I was using were suspect or not after the fact. Nice entry though it's a fun way to learn a thing or two.

This was such a good idea for the theme of this Ludum Dare! It was simple and very well implemented. I loved the humor and the attention to detail, like the pop-up hint about the middle name of the author. My only complaint is that sometimes the area that you have to hover your mouse around in order to get a hint is too small (for example with some of the wooden frames), but it was a very minor inconvenience. I had a lot of fun and wish there were more levels !

Super innovative and works very well: the incremental difficulty, the various types of "clues" and/or "reasoning" you have to make, as well as the hints that appear if you stare at a painting for too long makes everything flow incredibly well! I like the jokes of renaming famous paintings and artists

My main nitpick is that I would have liked a counter of how many painting are left to give me an idea of how much time I had, but it's not actual necessary (I didn't run out of time anyway). Adding a full-screen button in itch.io (I played the web version) would also have been a plus

Otherwise well done, a simple but good concept you knew how to use! :)

The idea is fun. More hints could have been fun. Overall an okay little jam game.

Managed to get a perfect score! ...After 3-4 failed attempts, I was quite bad at this.

Anyway, this was nice! I love the concept here, and everything looked pretty good. The music also definitely fit the vibe. I also enjoyed some of the forgeries, the acrylic paint especially :)

Like Linus Lindberg I also thought that the artwork name/creator were part of the hint whether it's fake or not, but I'm glad that's not the case since I was unfamiliar with some of the later works. Maybe this part could've been removed? I also completely missed the front/back buttons until my final attempt, but they were pretty cool!

Overall though, I really liked it, a short and sweet experience!

Hmm! As long as I buy fast enough and in large enough quantities, I can't get counterfeit goods. I wonder if this is a bug?
