The Crab's Kingdom by Carbs

[raw]
made by Carbs for Ludum Dare 58 (JAM)

Welcome to The Crab's Kingdom, our Ludum Dare 58 submission!

Play as "The Crab" in the for mentioned title as you collect valuable items for your kingdom. The more items you collect the better your kingdom becomes but watch out for those pesky humans that seem to be walking on the beach too!

Make choices of which item to bring back, perhaps some items are more valuable then others? Maybe some items are heavier then others? Hmm perhaps perhaps haha

Fun little game and I really like the concept. I think having a BGM and some SFXs would make it feel more engaging. There's an problem with the foot's hitbox though, especially on top left, where the crab would get stomped on even though it clearly didn't.

It took me a moment to understand that I could only grab items when they're directly under one of my claws haha. But when I got that it was pretty fun, good job!

I think the feet should come down slower. It feels very random whether you get hit or not. Maybe add speed boosts or something, the gameplay is very repetitive from the start

I like the art, especially the UI drawn in the sand. Very clever! I wish I could dodge the feet better, there is little to no chance of you reacting and dodging it now.
Well done!

Refreshing, hand drawn art style. I played couple of times to see what the next level of our sand castle would look like.

I didn't like not very clear hit boxes of stomping feet, as well as not being able to prolong play-time, e.g. each completed sandcastle level gives you additional time.

Overall, well done
