Touch Mycelium by surf croc

[raw]
made by surf croc for Ludum Dare 58 (JAM)

Simple walking sim "collectathon" about gathering mushrooms in a forest.

There is currently no goal, so just relax, take in the atmosphere, and collect that fungi! ^o^

(I used sound effects I recorded before the jam, so I opted out of the Audio category).

Update 8/10/2025: - Added HTML5 version (Note: There are some slight issues with audio and trees popping in due to compatibility, but otherwise it should work! You also have to press Esc twice to access the settings.)

Adorable game—love the combination of 2D art and first-person perspective.

Looking great. Good nature sound effects. Relaxing atmosphere. A bit more gameplay would have been great. But overall a okay little jam game.

@surf-croc Could you post an html version so I can try it?

@piero-pbes-studio I have added an html version, but it's a little buggy... Hopefully it doesn't ruin the experience!

The graphics are really cool and the engine runs well... it's funny we thought of mushroom picking... I couldn't get rid of this interpretation of the theme

Yay, nice cozy game. The graphics and animations are great. With some music and some tasks, this would be a real pleasant game for the Fall. Very nicely done! :)

Nice chill game, i like the 2D graphics in a 3D map, i think if there where tasks it would be more fun

Peaceful and cozy little walk through a dreamy forest. The mix of 2D visuals and 3D space works beautifully, and the atmosphere is super relaxing. Would love to see a few small objectives or music to deepen the experience, but as a chill collectathon, it’s already delightful.

It's a bit of a shame on the sound effects being prerecorded as they're really good.

Nice seeing the use of billboard sprites. Everything looks well placed.

It did take me a smidge to realize that I had to crouch to get the mushrooms (had to restart to see I missed the control). No issues seen with your web version.

Love the aesthetic and mood, it's quite pretty. You could make a very nice and relaxing game out of this kind of style.

The mood of this was perfect, and your sprites were super good too. Even with limited gameplay, this was a very chill game and could be the basis for something really fun.

Charming graphics. Obviously the gameplay is minimal, but it works just right. I could see having this as nice little desktop app to open to kill a few minutes at work.

It's super charming for all its minimalism! Perfect example of a game that could be more and simultaneously doesn't need to be anything but exactly what it is.

I like the birds chirping sound. It adds a lot of charm.

I love the sprites and the way you display the already collected mushrooms. I needed a few second to realze that you need to crouch to pick up.

This is great! Was initially a little confused about why I couldn't pick anything until I restarted and saw that Shift was the crouch button, and then all was clear.
Great aesthetics, simple but fun premise, nice ambience and overall feel, and absolutely nailed the theme.

Well done!
