'Ouija' is a short horror experience about talking to a lost spirit through a Ouija board. Through your conversation with the spirit, you find that they are imprisoned in purgatory by an unholy demon, who may now be coming for you...

Stretched the theme a bit this time round, have just finished working on a game about working in an delivery fulfilment warehouse which took us 3 years, so really didn't want to make anything about boxes, warehouses or deliveries right now 😅

What a delighful game! I have to admit I was a little bit scared while playing hahah

After playing I double checked it was indeed a COMPO game. It's amazing you could achieve these visuals in just 48 hours, great work!

If I can give you some (hopely helpful) feedback, sometimes the ouija felt a little bit too slow and monotonous. Maybe some frantic or herratic movements would improve the mood.

All that said, an amazing result, one of my favourites so far. Congratulations!

The art, dialogues and ilumination is AMAZING! It would be nice to have more options at the same time to ask.

After getting up, it takes a long time until the spirit goes away.

It would be nice if the lighting of the crucifix was a little more intense.

Leaving aside the theme, it is quite an immersive game, congratulations!

The visual and atmosphere are GREAT! It is a nice and short experience. But I say it is a strech to say this is "delivery" themed.

That's definitely a top score on mood for me - really impressive work for 48 hours. And imagine the clock even has moving hands!!

I must say, your game has some truly amazing visuals, models, and ambiance! It's hard to believe that all of this was created in just 48 hours.

The overall mood you've managed to create is really impressive. The music and sound effects were also spot-on - they added just the right touch of scariness and really enhanced the overall experience.

The only downside was that it didn't quite follow the theme. Nonetheless, you did a fantastic job, and I thoroughly enjoyed playing your game!

Ver nice graphics and atmosphere, the amount of 3d models etc. created for this is impressive! Would be a little better if you could skip the lettering phase on the board and show entire word being written at once. The demon might be a little bugged too, because I was "shooting" it with the cross from multiple angles for a long time and then it suddenly disappeared.

@kgurniak91 Thanks for playing, the demon taking a while to kill isn't a bug, it takes 20 seconds, I was planning on having more happening around the room (things getting thrown around etc) during that time to build the tension while exorcising him, but unfortunately I ran out of time.

@slimeboos @clemall Thanks for playing, regarding the theme, I decided stretch it a bit and interpret it as 'Deliver us from evil' as I have just finished working on a game about deliveries that we worked on for 3ish years, so I really wanted to avoid the normal interpretation of the theme.

Indeed impressive work on the audio-visual side, but not only there! Genuinely creepy, reminded me of the atmosphere in Inscyption somehow. I also liked that you didn't throw jumpscare after jumpscare into my face. To me that makes it even scarier. Would've loved to see more gameplay with the crucifix, but I assume that was outside the 48h scope :) Well done!

The lighting was totally mind blowing and made the entire atmosphere very creepy. The film grain and candle light add to the feeling. I could see this being developed into a full game if you added puzzles like Myst. Well done!

The graphics are really great and the atmosphere is well captured. It was a bit short and easy to kill the demon but still really nice. Too bad you couldn't save abigail :D

Really interesting experience! I loved the way the Ouija board worked and the creepy atmosphere, but the obvious showcase here were the fidelity of the graphics. Aside from the theme being a bit stretched, very impressive for a 48 hour compo submission!

Impressive work! I'd like to see this turn into a full game.

By the way, the link to the source code doesn't work. I guess the repo is private now.

@gord10ahmet oops ahaha, thanks for letting me know about the repo, completely forgot to switch it to public. And thanks for playing, thinking about working on it further, want to expand the story more and make the ending a bit more engaging :)

Oh what! This is crazy polished!
Seems like you've learned some during those 3 years! Boy!
I'm impressed, not sure I have anything to complain about. :)

Probably the first horror game that I got past the menu screen - all for the sake of LD53
Thankfully the demon was chill about it, maybe you could add a more engaging mechanic to defeat it (maybe it could move and you would need to track it with the mouse). All in all really awesome!

I didn't even join the event but i saw your post and realised you also made Park Lane and The Salatroitsk Incident which i both played and have stuck with me because of the awesome graphic style and the overall mood.
I'm not able to rate but I loved playing this one!

@wighz Thanks for playing :)

@markais Thanks for playing, I'm thinking about working on this further and definitely want to do more with the ending, just ran out of time during the jam, intended to do a big animation during that sequence with items being thrown at the player etc.

@robert18 Thanks for playing, means a lot :)

Freaky and beautiful! I enjoy horror games that can utilize mood without relying too much on jumpscares and this is it. The Ouija portion of the game is very inventive. While slow, that serves to up the tension beautifully. Not sure if it's possible to lose the game but the demon does make you innately afraid. Eventually though I mustered up the courage to approach them and I think we got quite comfortable with each other. ^^

Great game with amazing visuals and mood. The theme is a stretch but I'm into that. At least it's a break from all the cardboard boxes. Congrats!

@fupi thanks for playing, great screenshot, I did still manage to get a few cardboard boxes in there, dotted around the corners of the room, the demon was meant to throw these around a bit during the finale to make him a bit more threatening, but I ran out of time unfortunately :)

Nice vision. I can see a great game in this! Kinda short, but it's a compo, hey!

I'm usually not a fan of horror game as I hate screamers but I'm glad this one didn't have any!
The demon was pretty chill, and we hung around while I figured how to use the crucifix, which I also liked actually!

The game looks really good, I love the light effect on the crucifix. Well done!

Great job. Literally, from a couple of minutes of gameplay using one location, quite a dense, oppressive atmosphere was created.

It feels like the characters are typed very slowly, at these moments, it was just boring, but not for long. In a big game, that would be unbearably annoying. Also I don't really think that glitchy UI is a good idea.

I just thought it would be cool to have a mini-game or some kind of mechanic while the ghost is typing letters, so it wouldn't feel so boring.

Incredible atmosphere and tone, but the ouija marker moved just a little too slowly, which killed some of the suspense for me. Nonetheless, really incredible and polished work for 48 hours!

Bloody impressive for a compo game! It looks amazing and it managed to send some chills down my spine and that's not something I can say often about jam games. Brilliant!

Had a blast playing your game! It gave me a good scare, but that's what made it fun. Can't believe those stunning visuals were done in just 48 hours. Impressive work! The Ouija board could use some faster and more exciting movements. Overall, it's one of my top favorites. Congrats on a fantastic job!

An amazing game! Very impressive visuals, spooky atmosphere. I enjoyed playing it. It felt like I didn't actually do much, but I was immersed throughout the whole playthrough. Very impressive for a game jam entry!
