Parcel Blaster 2099 by graebor
In the not-so-distant future, parcel delivery has evolved into a dangerous game. Packages are no longer sent for logistical reasons, instead they are used as ammunition in high-stakes cannon-based delivery competitions. Leave the rules of the road behind, and enter a world that belongs only to those with lightning reflexes and a desire to fill mailboxes.

Controls: - WASD or Arrows: Move, Boost, and Brake - Mouse: Aim and Shoot - (Standalone Build Only): F11 toggles fullscreen, ESC to quit
Tips: - Parcels fired from a moving vehicle will continue moving forward, lead your shots! - Parcels fired while boosting are worth triple! - Gas refills spawn based on your points - so score big, and drive hard!

Team was just myself, but this is a Jam entry since I repurposed a couple of sound effects and scripts from some of my previous games.
If the web version runs slowly for you, try the downloadable windows version!

- Graphics are great
- Like the effects and animations of motion
- Gameplay feels rewarding
- The Difficulty is scoped more for a FPS kinda player rather than someone with strategic mind, hence the arcade feeling. I play a lot of FPS games so didn't have that much of an issue
- Music is cool!
Overall feels polished and have a nice replayable factor. Great job!
On the other note:

If the stuff from the other games you made was made by yourself, then there's no problem in putting the game into COMPO. All the stuff you made before can be use to your advantage, as long as you can prove that you actually did it yourself before  . A lot of COMPO folks use their old code and assets from previous entries to boost their effectiveness. You don't want to create the same UI system over and over again for example :muscle:
Impressive job !
this has all the juice and the action

I did wish that hitboxes were a bit bigger, 'cause Im not very good at aiming, especially while driving (pretty sure it an illigal thing to do). Plus because of my bad aim I frequently ran out of gus without finding one fuel tank, which was quite frustrating.
Still, it was very fast paced, energetic and ultimately cool experience. Great entry!
I can only say good job!
Overall, this is a top entry.
Congratulations!
my high score: 42
I had the idea of using the packages as projectiles too, but we went with another concept in the end

That said, was pretty fun, the fact that you have to look away to aim while having to dodge obstacles on the road is pretty interesting... Eyes on the road people!
The music fits the gameplay very well too
Thanks for making this!
Well done game, one of the most addictive I played so far!
Being the coward I am (and I know I'm not alone), there was nothing stopping me from braking the entire run and getting a 1x score on my deliveries and just playing longer. If, for example fuel drained faster when braking too, that would make brake less. Just thought that was worth noting.
Fantastic work, solid entry!
p.s. the colours were so intentional and so, so helpful, so much visual clarity in helpers & objectives vs. obstacles & fail points.
Submitting an arcade style game is pretty creative, and it increases playtime and replayability without having to make custom levels.
On that note, this game is super replayable. I can definitely picture this being a super popular mobile game.
As was mentioned before, I think breaking should also consume fuel. Tbh, before I read that comment I thought it DID consume extra fuel, and avoided braking.
The art is pleasing, and the UI is fine though maybe the fuel meter could use some work?
I liked playing the game. Hope you liked making it just as much
