Cover.png The game is a point and click strategy game centered around delivering fuel to stranded spacefarers that have called for rescue while avoiding obstacles.

Narrative:

Running out of fuel in never fun. Now imagine you are out of fuel in the vast empty darkness of space with your oxygen and food supplies dwindling.

However there is no need for dispair galactic citizen, Galactic Roadside Assistance is here to save you!

Our trained professionals will fly to you with the fuel you need to continue your journey through the stars.

We have recently expanded to a brand new region of space and you have been put in charge of managing our operations here.

Press SPACE to pause, ESC to quit and M to toggle music.

Here are some quick instructions to get you started with your brand new VERY IMPORTANT duties:

  1. Use LEFT CLICK to select your different units

  2. With a unit selected use RIGHT CLICK to issue orders to it (holding down SHIFT allows you to queue orders and holding CTRL will allow you to setup repeating partols)

  3. Distress calls come in periodically and will be marked on your map. Each marker shows its time remaining and fuel needed.

  4. Command your Refuel ships to refuel the stranded ships before they perish. Return Refuel ships to the base to refill their cargo with fuel.

  5. Each basic Refuel ship may hold up to 5 units of fuel. You may adjust the amount of fuel loaded by the base using the SCROLLWHEEL (Refule ships with lighter cargo travel faster).

  6. Unfortunatly we are not the only once roaming the darkess. Since the founding of the G.R.A. pirates have been trying to claim our fuel for themselfs. Be sure to steer clear of these good for nothing thiefs.

  7. Fortunatly we have managed to get our hands on some Combat ships which may be used to scare away the pirates.

  8. Lastly our Rescue ships may be used to bring stranded travelers vital food and oxygen so they may survive longer while they wait for their fuel.

8.1. Rember we pride ourself in our 100% success rate, so if someone perishes on your watch then you might want to look for a new job.

Not sure what game engine you're using, but windows defender is not liking the exe. Anyway, I ran it, and glad that I did.

### A very polished game
Great graphics, decent music and good sfx, intuitive controls, bugless, and I think the game is even ready to be sold on steam.
I like the art style, a bit neon brings some futuristic vibe, but not too overwhelming.
This game reminds me of Elite Dangerous, there's a group of players named Fuel Rats bringing fuel to people stranded in dozens of systems away.

### Some very minor downside
I'm using an ultrawide display, the main menu and UI is a bit off to me.
The gameplay is a bit slow, I hope that there's a toggle for the game speed.

@kyboon Wow a very generous review of our game. We used the Godot Engine. I think window defender dislike all unsigned software. Don't know how bug free it is. It is actually inspired by the Fuel Rats in Elite Dangerous.

I am aware that the menu is top-left aligned but we did not bother center align it because it was just for the game jam and is a minor part of the game.

We overscoped and the speed of the game is set to be appropriate for feature that did not make it in to the game.

Overall a very fun and simple game that takes only a handful of concepts and executes them well. With intuitive controls it was easy to set up routes and cycles for the ships to take, opening up the door for more complex strategies. Potentially have some indicator for if you are adding a destination or creating a cycle, quickly forgot which of shift and ctrl did what. Other that that the neon art style was solid and the sound effects fit well with the rest of the game.

Love the art style and the game play ! Reminded me a lot about the strategy game subterfuge. I liked how the real time aspects forces you to make quick longterm decisions!

Very nice and polished visuals, simple and well done. The gameplay is a bit slow for me, but since you aim for the strategy aspect I guess it is all right. I had the same issue as was mentioned before with widescreen monitor, the menu UI was off, but in the game everything looked fine.

Very good game. Probably the most polished one from the games I've played. I liked the visuals and the music as a whole. Unfortunately it seemed like you have no way to fight the bigger pirate bases. Or maybe I was not progressing fast enough and there would have been some sort of a solution for them. Perhaps the progression could have been slightly faster.

Good work!

First launch of the game caused the audio to glitch... but it fixed itself on the 2nd launch. It broke again so I had to mute the game, which was preferable cause that low health sound is permanent as soon as the game derails. Oh well, on to the good stuff! I must have played a dozen games and had a great time! Super polished entry, really cool music (when I got to hear it ;)). Difficult, but I also never ever play RTS games, even though I dig this stuff. Cheers!

@fusionnist unfortunate that the audio would glitch. Never had that issue. There is not much of our own code behind the audio so might be a Godot bug. Will have to investigate. But I am happy you enjoyed it.

@coderaurus I am glad you liked our game. The pirates are supposed to be a permanent danger that you have to deal with and scare away with your battleship. If we expand the idea we might make them more flexible. Making it so that pirate bases can be destroyed but that new ones will spawn. Because I don't belive it would be good design the be able to get rid of them completely.

@ski11az I am happy you liked our game. The patroling was a last something we had in mind for a long time but quickly implemented in the end. It can absolutely be improved upon, especially visually. I agree that there should be a difference in visuals between normal commmandpoints and patrol commmandpoints.

This is so much fun! It got me hooked for quite a while. I jump straight into the game without reading the controls section on the page, so it was a bit confusing at first (my fault tho), but after that, oh boy. The graphics are pretty and the background song are nice, they create a great space-y vibe-y mood. I enjoyed every second of this game.

@skelleroznik I am happy you like it! I know how boring and easy it is to skip written instructions for games. There should really be a tutorial in the game but in a gamejam game I rather work on features and fix bugs than working on a tutorial.

One of my favorites! :star2: Love the gameplay, visuals, everything. Could you share any alternative names you considered for this game?

@icxon wow one of your favorites. That makes me happy to hear. We actually did not spend much time considering names for the game. I did not think about any name for the game until @golahirom suggested the name Galactic Roadside Assistance. It was his first suggestion and I thought it was a good name so we went with it. I don't know if he had any other ideas.

@d3kryption I am happy you enjoyed our game. It seems to be the case for many that it takes a while to figure out. The game should really have a tutorial but it is not worth investing time in one with such short development time
