Kebak Postal Service by ownedstuff
Kebak PS
Kebak PS is a game where you have to sort mail according to many different attributes the envelopes have. It is heavily inspired by the game Papers please. Stamps generated using midjourney ai.
Gameplay
- play in full screen if possible (1080p) i don't think the ui is gonna work otherwise
- use the mouse to drag letters to their corresponding boxes
- drag a letter over the trashcan at the bottom left of the screen to reject it
- complexity increases and mechanics are added every level (of which there are four)
- levels are on a timer so you have to go as fast as you can to get as many letters in as possible.
Developement insights
I joined the jam really late on saturday so this was more of a 24h jam for. This is the reason why there are no sounds and i didn't spend much time at all on graphics. I think the game ended up pretty fun even though i had very little time to work on it. There are four levels with increasing difficulty. It was fun coming up with different aspects that the letters could be sorted by and programming all the validation rules.
I Started by making the colors and shapes, then added the stamps and finally added the weights and weight classes. I used Midjourney to generate the stamps because i wanted funky images and i didn't have time to draw. I really like what it came up with and all the original images are included in the source code (even one that didn't make it into the game;p). Near the end of the jam i went back and added "feature flags" to all those aspects so that i could remove certain attributes in the early levels. This caused me a couple of headaches in debugging haha :)
