For The King! by LadyMistLeaf

[raw]
made by LadyMistLeaf for Ludum Dare 53 (COMPO)

mainmenusmall.png

You have been tasked by the king to deliver messages to his camps to repel the enemy!

Avoid fighting soldiers and flying fireballs!

Riches await if you complete this task!

Mouse to start game and WASD/ZQSD to move!

Game made in Javascript all using my own code!

Used Paint.net for graphics! Beware soldiers in chain mail onesies!

Warning: This is a Ludum Dare jam game and the hit boxes are a little finnicky, I did not have the time to shrink the player's hitbox, my apologies!

Also: for those thinking the garden gnome was out of place, it was an easter egg for those of Pixel Prophecy's community.!!

Nice and simple :D I was going to mention the player's hitbox, but I see you already know.. An early retirement, is exactly what I need :D Well done

Early retirement here I come. Yep, the hitboxes were a bit harsh, but managed to complete it! :D
I tried finding the gnome, but I couldn't! :\ Cheers!

@incd021 @tudvari Thank you! Yeah, I guess I could have worked on the hit box during submission hour, but wasn't quite sure how to do the band-aid solution real quick without risking breaking the game last minute. Of course, now that it's over, a 5-min fix comes to mind 😅 Ah well!

Also @tudvari, the gnome was just laying on the ground next to you in the ending screen.

Thank you both for playing!

Good fun game :) An issue with the player hitbox as you said but hey time constraints are real!

The game is a bit frustrating, because of the random times/directions the fireballs fly without any signs of what comes next. An example would be to rotate/mirror the sprite of the wizards so you see a few moments before the fireball in which direction it will fly.

Other than that it was a nice little game. I think a big part is finding the "correct route" that was intended during the level design. Then it gets easier to and more fun.

Good job!

It's literally me crossing the road! XD

I see some nice level design here and I like it! I was a bit confused after the first level ended, thought I lost somehow, and it took several respawns to notice that I'm on a different level. :D Overall, the game was pretty fun and I enjoyed it.

I'm bad at this but enjoyed it nonetheless. If the wizards had a pattern to their firing that would have been cool. If they did have a pattern and I couldn't figure it out ignore this comment :)

The hitboxes certainly made this frustrating, but there's definitely some potential here. Good work.

I have all the riches having completed my delivery to the king. I am an AWESOME person with a purple shirt and bandoleer looking thing.

It wasn't fair but I really wanted to see the gnome. And I did! It was worth it!
