Quantum Post by Eli Delventhal
You're a new member of Quantum Post out to deliver your first package across space and time!
Move with ARROWS / WASD. Eventually, attack with SPACE. Eventually, dash with SHIFT. Rewind time with BACKSPACE.
I should have learned from last time that time reversal takes bloody forever to implement in a jam. I thought because I did it once, it would be easier this time! Nope. I really ran short of time on this one as a result, so the theme doesn't really come through at all and I didn't get to explore nearly as many puzzles as I wanted to. Oh well, I think the concept is cool!
This is also essentially a compo game. It was done in 48h and the only thing I didn't do was the audio.
*note I released a patch on 5/3 that fixed the BACKSPACE / DELETE confusion and also fixed a game-breaking permadeath bug near the cannonballs.

bonus points for how hard the music bopped and how happy the guy was to get his delivery at the end
But most of the time this game was fun to play. Good work
Quantum Post sounds a bit hardcore, but the game is very player-friendly and fun.
I love the feeling of suddenly discovering the relation between my phantom and the puzzles and my phantom could kill me. Animation is a bit lengthy (especially when I die very early) but not annoying .
One thing I notice is dash doesn't have strong relation with time rewind or phantom, perhaps this part could be considered more?
Another thing that suddenly came to my mind during my gameplay is what if my phantom can be somehow viewed as part of the "real-me"? like the "real-me" can open doors for my phantoms, if my phantoms reach some points, it can be viewed as the "real-me" reach some points so that I can start from those points after rewind. Will this add more fun?
Anyway, reallllly love your game. (I hate those flying stones!)
@kosmik123 Yeah a couple people told me there's a bug here! I will look into and maybe update the entry if I can repro. Looks like maybe you get killed while rewinding time.
And thanks everyone else for the feedback!
I thought the core mechanic was great, there's a lot of possibility there
Well doen!
@firellon Never heard of Mustache Armies but looked it up – great concept, and wow it got 4th place! Interestingly enough their entry is much closer to what I *wanted* to do here, but they were smarter and didn't do time reversal at all, they just stored clone data. I spent so much time implementing the camera going backwards and everything reversing when really it's just a cool effect and doesn't have anything to do with gameplay, haha. Anyway yeah I wanted a huge "army" of clones running around doing puzzles with you.
@joe-stack Yeah, I wanted to make the spawn area totally safe but didn't get around to it. Best option is to try to stab all the naughty clones as soon as you can. Later you get the dash and you mash that at the start to avoid swords as well.
Visually, I liked the color scheme and most of the art. However, the player animations are way too fast and feel bad. The cannons are oddly high contrast compared to the nice shades of purple and blue that all the rest of the level has as well.

@thesmellofoxygen Yeah I changed the color palette midway through and forgot to update the cannons. :poop:
@zungryware Dang I was hoping I had fixed that. Sorry about that, a few other people had this issue as well.
