Lil' Red Witch by Bluepir
There once was a witch who sought out a dream,
to fill a magic vial that glitters and gleams...

Play as the Little Red Witch, and fill up her magic vial by delivering joy (and potions) to the townspeople!
But be careful; to get the potions, you must trade them for magic with the cloud witches! Manage your time and magic to become a fully-fledged witch!

Very well made for a quick jam!
gotta love a bit of janky-behaviour in a jam game, right?
A few details that come to mind:
- The scroll speed of the text was rather slow imo, so it would've been nice to allow the player to uncover the text by pressing space before it's finished displaying.
- The waving of the text is cute, but it made it slightly harder to read. Not a problem for a game jam, but something that should be considered for larger works.
- It felt as though sometimes my directional input didn't cause the movement direction to change. Not because of the inertia but rather as if my input didn't register. Not 100% sure on this one though.
I liked the explanations of the controls at the beginning of the game
I also like the cute wiggling potion bottles on the itch.io page.
The music is so fitting and SO beautiful! It's a really simple idea for a game and it works so well!
Also the itch.io background with the potions is a super nice touch :3 !! Loved it
it was a lot of fun -
but now I am bound -
until this rhyme here is done!
I wrestled my keyboard -
as I got yeeted away. -
In the end though I finished -
and buckled down to stay.
To finish this rhyme -
in honor of your game -
and now I am free -
as I reached my aim!
After seeing the rhyming controls, I felt spellbound to come up with something ;)
I really like the poems, wish I could honor them with rhymes!
Very cute visuals and a cute song to accompany! Excellent way to present the tutorial also.
I did a second run just to check the game over, nice pictures on the player defeat event. My only gripe with the game was that there seemed to be some heavy drag when moving to the right. I had to hold left for a long time until the broom started to turn. Made it slightly more challenging but it felt wonky.
Overall very good! Congratulations!
Just add more content (Potions, Cities, etc) and you'll have a nice commercial game on your hands!
Music and sounds fit perfect, well done!
*the pixel shimmering is a bit of a bummer, but no big deal.
Hello, the game's artist here (and writer of all of the in-game poems!), this comment absolutely made my day, thank you so much!! I'm so glad you enjoyed!
to all fellow witches in training, there’s a slight update on this game for those who wish for a new broom~
Many witches commented below, About how the movement was janky and slow, Until now! The update has come to their aid, And now every broomstick glides like a blade.
if you wish for smoother movement, download and use v-0.0.6 otherwise, if you prefer the ‘classic’ janky way, download the LD version and let us know!
happy flying :)
A little more complexity would have been nice!
Congratulations!
it was really fun to play even if i sometimes floated a little bit to hard trough the map. overall great Game!
