Timeline by Avi

[raw]
made by Avi for Ludum Dare 53 (JAM)

A digital version of the 'timeline' board game: order the events in the correct timeline! (yep, lol my ideas for following the theme went off rails unfortunately)

Data scraped from online websites with python (see github repo).

Doesnt really have an end-game condition. https://youtu.be/Hdb3hOP9_WU

KNOW BUGS THAT BRING ME SADNESS - UI button sometimes doesnt realise the mouse is hovering over it (Left and right arrow keys can be used instead) - UI scaling on phone-webgl gets messed up - Mouse scrolling affects the particles (lol, was deving on my laptop, didnt notice this as I just had a trackpad)

If you find more bugs, please comment! (or post on github: https://github.com/avivajpeyi/timeline/issues)

Thanks

One of the best games on jam. Not very suitable for the theme, but this game is very cool. Graphics is simple and enjoyable. Nice job, like this game :)

As someone who loves history this was quite fun to play. The UI and colors are easy on the eyes. Nothing groundbreaking but I enjoyed it for what is was doing nonetheless.

A very interesting idea, something like a clicker in which you need to think) simple graphics, which I consider a plus for this project (minimalism looks pretty stylish here)

Very cool idea with the web scraping, but I think I found some wrong dates, or at least misleading card descriptions, that were very funny though :D
The card on "Classical period begins" said -480 and "Rotation of earth" might have been discovered in the 19th century, but probably started sooner xDDD
Later I will check out your github, always curious to see some python.

Loved the game! I didn't play many board games, so this is new for me, not only new but awesome!

Overall, the game is fun, but the interface is not very clear at the beginning. The graphics seem too simple and do not fit the theme of the jam.

The game is very cool and fun, I would love to see a version without bugs (they are very annoying) and it will turn into a great entertainment for 5-minute breaks.

My favourite board game turned into a computer game gets high ratings from me! I did find it unfortunate that the cards were not always very specific, it made me misplace quite a few of them just from misinterpreting what event the very short phrase was trying to allude to. In general though, great work!
