SpaceEats by DylanBrowne

made by DylanBrowne for Ludum Dare 53 (JAM)

In SpaceEats you take on the role of a food delivery person, but in space and with Newtonian physics (think Battlestar / Expanse style movement).

This was made over 72 hours for the Jam category of Ludum Dare 53.

The aim of this simple game is to pickup an order from the randomly selected restaurant food ship and take it to the customer, you can also shoot and blow up some asteroids because why wouldn't you?

Controls: Esc - Settings Menu

Q & E - Roll

WASD - Orientation

Shift - Thrust

Space - Afterburner

Left Mouse - Shoot

Made with Unreal Engine 5.3.0 (UE5-Main branch).

Used no third party models or assets aside from this one font: https://www.dafont.com/napolitanica.font?text=SpaceEats Sound FX by my two kids.

This was a good fun time taking part in my first LD, and somehow I didn't overscope? haha weird.

Note: if downloading the Unreal Project to look at the source files, you will need to compile the latest UE5 from UE5-Main branch of Epic's Github.

Great looking game. The models, textures, particle effects and sound were amazing. Controls were a bit too sensitive and I didn't see if I could control them in the menu. I was able to pick up the package for delivery but I was unable to make the delivery. Every time I tried I would look like I am getting closer to my destination and the number would be decrementing letting me know how close I was. Then they would just start climbing up again even though the destination was in front of me still. Every attempt was the same. Overall great looking game.

I really enjoyed playing this game! The sound effects and background music are very well done and create a great atmosphere. The visuals are impressive, with detailed models and textures, and some really cool particle effects. There are some minor issues with the controls and the delivery system, but overall this is a great game that's definitely worth playing.
