The People of The Village by Team Gaivot

made by Team Gaivot for Ludum Dare 53 (JAM)

Team Gaivot is back!!.... and with yet another delivery game! (not our fault this time)

Our game is about Jamie, a deliveryman who works for an incompetent delivery company in a remote and cozy small village. The company is very bad at keeping track of its client’s information and is usually only able to provide a general idea of who they are. Your job is to figure out who should be receiving the packages based on the information provided by the company. Due to standard corporate procedures, you will only know if you got the addressees right at the end of the day, via the company's official complaint report. Based on the number of complaints you get each day, you will get a higher or lower payment, which you can then use to pay your bills and purchase upgrades in between the work days. Will you be able to perform according to corporate expectations? Will you be able to pay your bills and, therefore, be considered a responsible and functional adult? Or will you perish and contribute to raising the country’s unemployment rate?

Game Controls: - Use the Arrow Keys or WASD to Move - Press Tab to Check your deliveries for the day - Press Space to talk with characters - Press E near a character to open the delivery menu - With the delivery menu open, click on the item you wish to deliver - After all deliveries are done, exit the village

(this iteration of) Team Gaivot is: - Ian "Iab" Alves - Game design, programming; - Daniel "Dab" Viol - Main art design, back up programming; - Anderson "Emer" Misumi - Soundtrack & Sound Effects, back up art.

EDIT 1: With 24 extra hours, we finished a version that better represents the game we envisioned. A final build was uploaded in the itch.io link, with versions for Linux, Web and Windows. Play it if you feel like it and if you get to the final day, leave us a comment!

EDIT 2: Managed to get the web version to work on itch.io, a page for the game was created there to make it easier to play the jam submission, as well as the final version of the game.

Nice looking game, the theme is awesome. However I had two slight issues: desktop.zip seems to be broken after download and I didnt know what to do next on the village map. I was unable to leave it :( But I enjoyed the theme.

Nice vibe, the only thing missing for me were not interactable animals, would love to know what the goat thinks about a village :>

Reminded me a bit of Harvest Moon 64 with the background music :) Great job! I was a bit confused at first that clicking the items is giving them to the people, so maybe just make that a bit more obvious

Very cute game with well written dialogue. It would be nice to have an intro or some way for the story to be told within the game but given time constraints it wasn't a major issue by any stretch

Thanks for the feedbacks everyone!

@random-ideation-studios , I just played it and left a comment! :D
@holly Thanks for letting us know, i fixed the download link earlier this week.

@holly @sweedy @alpalcalad , do consider playing the post-jam version! We had originally planned to implement these things you guys mentioned, but didn`t have time, so the post-jam version has them all!

The main idea is very nice, unfortunately it seems not that clear the meaning of the money on delivery and their use at the end of the level. Nice dialogues and chill music.

Nice game. Cute graphics. Not so sure about having to wait until leaving the village before getting feedback, I think some more immediate feedback from the villagers on whether you've delivered to the right person would be better. Great effort, though: well done!

The vibe really is something! Has a cozy atmosphere to it - You might have something really intersting at hand! I used to love these day-life simulation kind of games - glad to see something like this! Would be really nice to see this further!
