Interesting concept, a little meta-flavored immersion

These types of games always have a mysterious/creepy atomosphere. I thought that part was great. I would have liked for search results to pop up as I typed and not after typing that would have made this a little easier (in my mind.) But yeah the atmosphere was great. Great job!

I enjoyed this, I wasn't expecting any webpage-based games like this but I really like how it's executed

The search being delayed (and only showing 4 results) did kind of mess with me, I thought it was broken until I searched "sequence", and after that I figured it out and solved the puzzle as intended

thanks @bobbie in theory we would create more content so to make it more fluid for people navigating the stories and finding information gradually about the plot, since we could not do that, I just wrote here the key to finding the most important part of the plot so people could see the ending.

Very nice ! I enjoyed the theme and the plot twist. I had to cheat and used your keyword, but it was nice. I quite liked being put in the action and having to figure everything out. [SPOILER] If I had the option, I think I would havel liked to not send the code. So the plot twist completely validated my feeling! [/spoiler]

I really like this type of game. In my opinion, the puzzle was a bit too convoluted, and I had to use your tips to find the code.
The atmosphere is really great tho. Makes me wanna try to do a full UI game on next LD.

Good puzzle. I personally liked the limited search and the search strings being a bit janky to show results, it added to the feel of the game and the feature of other emails sometimes flashing up for a second added something extra to go back and figure out, and ended up being what led me to the solution.
And I really like the twist!

thank you all for playing! @greenwooddrive I was aiming at something slow and glitchy and minimal with the soundtrack, I was only able to start on it in the last few hours, so I am really really glad some people liked it, thanks! @oter some of the buggy features were due to me not being able to create enough content to make a full UI, so I thought, maybe the broken UI can be a thing, maybe it is a feature, not a bug lol ... I am very happy that I was able to convey some feelings with it. @fluffy-kaeloky yeah I got very frustrated seeing I could not so easily find the solution myself and ended up creating several emails that say the codes and the email, but even then they were a bit hard to find in a fluid manner. With more time I would work more on that part, making sure there is enough content that would make any investigation path intriguing.

@velvetlobster I quite understand the rush ! Looking back to it, I wish I had spent a bit more time beefing up the story of mine ! I think I'll work on it on the post game jam.

btw just noticed I haven't played yours @hopla seems to be a really nice narrative game, gonna play it right away

I am a big fan of Her Story and this game really scratched that itch for me. Great work! It was fun to dig around emails, I was laughing hard when I realized that the spam emails were from other players.

This is super cool! I love this type of game :) There's a lot of potential here!
Feedback: I was stumped for a bit but then realized there was the "search" feature. After that I was able to proceed and find the right information. A technical issue is I think that a search for apple, should also bring up results for apple.banana. I think right now the words are delimited by space, correct me if I'm wrong?
Wish: Would have loved to see more of an ending, and maybe multiple endings depending on the information you find and what to do with it. The plot twist was cool!

I really like exploring the narrative in this manner. Chrome also wanted me to save my password for the game which is probably an immersive happy accident but very cool.

Awesome game, creepy ARG-like vibe, I loved it. I have managed to find and send the code, the AI answered, but it wasn't so obvious for me, that it was the actual solution to the puzzle :/ So I kept searching, if I have to maybe make some arrangements of the code letters, etc.

It would be awesome to see this game expanded, requiring you to login to different accounts and changing the servers with address bar at the top. Plese let me know if you'll ever make full game out of this :D

thanks a lot for the feedback @lisek-gagatek actually the idea of this game was kind of a dream project for years, perhaps I need some help to expand this and make it look more 'professional' so to say.

@bangkerpow oh yes that is purely accidental but I loved it :laughing:, there was a password we tested that chrome even says it was found in a leak and that using it was dangerous, but then we already had so many emails containing the current password (and a full thread of investigation concerning that) that would make it complicated to change the password lol.

@francis yeees actually I had another ending planned ... but could not execute it, in case you get the email right but the codes wrong for instance ... wanted also to include an ending screen or something like that but was far too late lol

if you look for sequence you gonna find an email that looks like fish.bail@gov.us, the emails contain conversations leaked about codes to start a nuclear strike in case of national threat, so sending an email to that address will initiate the protocol.

So when you send the code, the contact you have been talking to (and that requested the job) reveals itself in a very subtle manner (but anyone that has ever used CHAT GPT will be familiar with that type of response).

In fact the one that requested the job is an AI that is trying to create a nuclear and requested your help to do that, in the promise that you will be protected in the new AI dominated world.

If you close the windows and see the background you can see that the character (the hacker) that you are might have a tendency to be more "pro AI", as he/she has a robot arm in the background (I know that was subtle but we had no time to find a better free image lol)

I like the setup and layout of the game. Some of the icons/visuals were a bit jarring to look at but overall it all worked and it was interesting to see what information I could find. Well done!

At first I didn't get that there were more messages than the base 4/folder shown, so I was super confused and thought I should find the information from only these emails. After I read here a bit and figured out there were more, I eventually found the codes without using the "cheat".

I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't find any easter egg (searched for : easter, egg, ludum, dare, jam, delivery (maybe cat email was one?), velvet, lobster).
I also wish we could find more foreshadowing of the ending in the emails, but from what I've read it's not a topic that's ever mentioned.

It's a shame that the ending doesn't differ if you send the right code or not, the first time I thought I had figured the code out I was wrong.

I actually think the amount of ways to get to the codes is very reasonable to keep it both feasible and challenging, and the music is perfect for the atmosphere.

@kler your analysis is precise. I planned to have all of those but could not do it in the end, the only easter egg I managed to have there was the fact that all spams are actually emails from other users, when they send emails to wrong addresses.

also the intention was to have multiple endings and better balancing in the ways the users could find the sequence thread, but I was kinda worried cause its ludum dare and people do not spend much time in a single game so just decided to leave lots of emails with that tip to be safe.

btw you gave me very good ideas for easter eggs there and I now feel stupid I was so in a hurry I did not think of them.

This was certainly one of the most unique games I've played! I was honestly getting into my email-searching mode while trying to solve the puzzle! Really cool takes with fleshing out the characters through their email interactions, and any awkwardness is easily explained by the fact that you're hacking into an old email client. I love it :grin:

I was confused at first and needed a liiittle help from the comments but as soon as I got on track the game blossomed into a really interesting and uniwue experience that I really enjoyed. Great job!
