CONTROLS:

WASD > MOVE CURSOR TO EVADE INCOMMING ATTACKS

SPACE/RETURN > DEFLECT PINK PROJECTILES BACK AT THE ENEMY

INSTRUCTIONS:

Zoom around the terminal, dodging attacks to avoid taking damage.

Every now and then you'll see a pink attack, you can deflect these back at the enemy to damage them instead.

Watch out for the Boss' special attacks.

We've hidden a few EASTER EGGS in the game so look out for them if you can!

Easter Egg Hints:

!> 1) Does something seem odd about the numbers on the screen before the bit stream attack?
!> 2) Binary represents decimal numbers. What could the number in the bit stream attack be?
!> 3) I wonder what the QR code leads to?

GOOD LUCK :)

PS: We strongly recommend you play in full screen for the best experience and If you have a FALD monitor turn Local Dimming to high for a cool backlit effect on all the sprites

The final joke is funny.

My only complain is about controls. When in the menu you have to use the mouse to click buttons, but in the game you have to use keys to control the cursor. Would be nice to have consistency here

Otherwise a great idea and good implementation!

Yo, cool game! I like the simplicity but I think you should try to implement a difficulty gradient. Like it felt very difficult before I got used to it.

That was almost as hard as my game =D
Well done!

Lovely game, but too hard :)

I like your game! It had a clear and goal, which made me go longer than I usually do in an LD entry. I had to see what happened when I won, a BSOD ofcourse :D

I like how the computer has special moves like file transfer and bit streams. Sometimes a lot of pink bits would come all at once. This game uses a lot of RNG I think?

Great entry! I like the sound effects a lot and the graphics are well done!

I don't know if I found any easter eggs. Maybe you could share them with us after the ranking is done? I tried looking for them

Was a nice and fun game. The sound effect when hitting the PC was also kinda nostalgic.

And thanks for never giving up on me

Really liked this game, for a simple mechanic it keep me playing just to see if I could beat the computer! The graphics and audio are very fitting for the games storyline and style.

First time I won, it was before the folders started showing up! Only saw them when I went for a no-hit run. I think you could make it way harder! >:D

Thanks for the ratings and feedback everyone.

@the-xj-project @caeonosphere @irinam I think you guys have perfectly highlighted the hardest thing about making a bullet hell - the difficulty. Dynamic difficulty or a difficulty gradient is definately a great idea for a post dare version though.

@wouter52 we added a spoiler tag with some hints for the Easter eggs. Take a look and see if you can find them now.

@shmi @bluedandelion Undertale was a big inspiration glad you enjoyed it.

Gave it several tries and it is bit too difficult for me to complete (and I am not that good at bullet hell) but it was fun. And hey, that computer has more health than me! Not fair!

I think because numbers appearing are randomized, sometimes I would start a new run and get instantly flooded with lots of them, sometimes there would be more pinks, sometimes none, etc etc so I think luck also kinda plays a role a bit ^^

Oftentimes when trying to deflect pinks I just bumped into them!

I googled the code 00101101 and it showed me it means 2D. That's all I can figure out about the easter egg ^^''
In general, it's a nice idea, I like the main menu and the game itself, yeah it's hard for me but I don't think the difficulty is bad. There are a lot of players who enjoy it and for some this might even feel easy, who knows?

This was a fun quickie of a game. It feels weird, but novel to control a mouse cursor with a keyboard and having a Blue Screen of Death be a victory screen while thematic feels wrong. Also, I found it rather funny this shares a title with both a 90s Hollywood movie and a 90s first-person vehicle shooter.

I love this game lol! Overall vibe is great and the sound effects were great. The WinXP error and game over sounds were my favorite. The files copying in the foreground had me rolling lol. We had an idea similar to this too and now I'm kinda sad we didn't go with it on ours. Great job!

Liked the sound effects. Every time I thought I was close to killing the boss a flurry of numbers came across and I died. Pretty fun.

Very different to the original but still a great homage.

Punny name, funny game! Overall very nice, good audio (music was a bit quiet compared to sound effects) and graphics fitting the computer theme, difficult gameplay but in the good way, didn't take forever to win but still needed a couple of tries, which is great for a jam game. Maybe it was a bit too easy to camp at the bottom of the screen? Felt a little weird having to use mouse with the menus, especially with the terminal theme everywhere else. Other than that (and it's very minor) I enjoyed it quite a bit! Some cute animations on the computer boss too, even if I barely had time to notice them :p
