Quicksand by Deruitda

The village of Naporia, once a humble but sustainable village, has seen plagues rip through its crops in recent years. The epicenter of this plague seems to be the tomb of Rinskelin, an ancient evil spirit who was buried and locked away centuries ago. Legend says Rinskelin used a magical book, The Enchiridion, to do its evil bidding. Now, the elders appoint Terren, the champion of the village, to locate and remove the magical book inside Rinskelin’s Tomb in their last desperate attempt to save their village.
Our simple game revolves around the fact that the rooms are ever filling with sand, forcing your character into limited spaces and to make split second decisions in order to escape the room.
Run around the room collecting keys to open the door, it takes 3 keys to open each door. Also collect dash items to move around the room quickly and dash over lava gaps.
We are both programmers and are using Godot for the first time so this was a fun challenge!
Special thanks to GRTV for letting us borrow their audio equipment to make the sounds!

The sound effects were the best part of this game. Gameplay felt nice, but if indeed it is possible to cross the lava somehow, there should be at least some written instructions somewhere. I quess the issue is that I do not know how to dash? Was there some button for it? Or did it somehow activate when picking up boots? I dont know...
I am glad that you too hopped on the Godot hype train! Our 1st Godot game was also very basic, but now we are able to do more advanced games in game jams after little bit practice. Congratulations on finishing a game and learning completely new engine! Only few people can do that!
Could've used some clearer instruction - indicators and levels built around introducing the player to the mechanics would have benefited the game well.
The dash seems not to be an exact science (but I have little time to experiment, sand is comming ;) )
Great game overall! Really stressful but in a satisfying way!
The voice inbetween levels kinda broke the flow of gameplay in my opinion, but it was a nice touch anyway.
the way the quicksand flowed into the level felt a bit clunky and weird, but it served its purpose so it's passable.
overall pretty good!
Fun game! Good work!

I liked the voice acting! It's a really good touch, and the delivery was nicely done. Cheers!
Congrats!

Huge congrats on the first-time Godot entry, i did the same for this Ludum Dare after sticking to Unity for 6 years!
