The village of Naporia, once a humble but sustainable village, has seen plagues rip through its crops in recent years. The epicenter of this plague seems to be the tomb of Rinskelin, an ancient evil spirit who was buried and locked away centuries ago. Legend says Rinskelin used a magical book, The Enchiridion, to do its evil bidding. Now, the elders appoint Terren, the champion of the village, to locate and remove the magical book inside Rinskelin’s Tomb in their last desperate attempt to save their village.

Our simple game revolves around the fact that the rooms are ever filling with sand, forcing your character into limited spaces and to make split second decisions in order to escape the room.

Run around the room collecting keys to open the door, it takes 3 keys to open each door. Also collect dash items to move around the room quickly and dash over lava gaps.

We are both programmers and are using Godot for the first time so this was a fun challenge!

Special thanks to GRTV for letting us borrow their audio equipment to make the sounds!

Man that sand is quick! It reminds me a lot of 10 second ninja somehow. I like the concept of the game I would like to be able to see the level for a few seconds before starting to be able to create a plan. Other than that I'd also increase the item sizes a bit as it can be a bit fidgety. Overall I do like the idea a lot :).

Goot Concept, but it is impossible to tell where the Quicksand will come from and go to, some indicators would be nice to be able to map out the levels as a player.

The sand rises so fast that I have a hard time doing anything. I managed to collect two items once.

Is the 2nd level impossible? I did not find a way to get past the lava. Also, in the first level, how would one get the middle part of the level? I tried pressing space and by running on top the sand, but it felt like nothing helped to get over the lava. I am sorry to say that I did not see the game past the 2nd level.

The sound effects were the best part of this game. Gameplay felt nice, but if indeed it is possible to cross the lava somehow, there should be at least some written instructions somewhere. I quess the issue is that I do not know how to dash? Was there some button for it? Or did it somehow activate when picking up boots? I dont know...

I am glad that you too hopped on the Godot hype train! Our 1st Godot game was also very basic, but now we are able to do more advanced games in game jams after little bit practice. Congratulations on finishing a game and learning completely new engine! Only few people can do that!

That game is so hard. I love the dubbed lines and it is over all effective in achieving the theme and fun to play. Nice work!

Not enough games with custom-acted voice acting these days. Props.

Could've used some clearer instruction - indicators and levels built around introducing the player to the mechanics would have benefited the game well.

Cool concept! Loved the audio! I noticed that the sand fills in from different locations based on the level which is pretty nice. Though I found it a little hard to control the movement at times.

A bit too hard for me, as soon as 2nd level
The dash seems not to be an exact science (but I have little time to experiment, sand is comming ;) )

Hard to master the timings but loved it overall! Got to level 4, I think, after the "it's you or me and I know the legends about you"- I couldn't find the pause button and I started to die a lot bc I needed to step away from the PC for a second so I had to close the tab and will need to restart the game again.
Great game overall! Really stressful but in a satisfying way!

this game is very good! I was able to beat the game in a comfortable amount of time, although the ending was kinda anticlimactic I can understand with the time limit.
The voice inbetween levels kinda broke the flow of gameplay in my opinion, but it was a nice touch anyway.
the way the quicksand flowed into the level felt a bit clunky and weird, but it served its purpose so it's passable.
overall pretty good!

Took me a few tries to get used to the dash boot mechanic but was able to beat the game with only 5 deaths!
Fun game! Good work!

Beat it! Although I guess the book won...
I liked the voice acting! It's a really good touch, and the delivery was nicely done. Cheers!

I liked it, but it is super hard and I think it's both me being ridiculously bad and the controls that could be a bit more polished. Still enjoyable though, with a few more levels and some polish it could be a great speedrun game :)

Congrats!

Cool game! I liked the ps1 style voice acting haha. Gameplay is super fun and I really liked your take on the limited space theme. Don't have much else to say, one of the best games in the jam that I've played. :)

Actually pretty fun! Although obviously super fast, it's less hard than it looks !

i wish there was a "perfect only" mode where you can only proceed if you've gathered all the artifacts and unlimited lives

Huge congrats on the first-time Godot entry, i did the same for this Ludum Dare after sticking to Unity for 6 years!

Very addictive, I kept trying to beat the levels! I like the fast gameplay, but feedback on the dash action could have been better. It took me some time to figure it out, and sometimes the dash doesn't seem to activate. I love the sound, but sound rating is disabled?

Nice work. Tried beating it a second time and got all the keys. Some of them were pretty tricky! The book still won :frowning2:
