Help a burned out artist to do chores to get back on track!

When days seem to melt together for a work-from-home artist, she gets more and more exhausted and burned out. Help her pick up clothes and do dishes to make life a little easier.

This is my very first solo run and the first time I programmed in Godot. It was quite a challenge (mostly because I'm new to coding) and I couldn't get all the things I wanted to put in to work, so please have a little mercy if it is a little too simple.

You just need your left mouse button to play.

hey! just a heads up that whenever I try to run the exe, it throws an error :(

error text: "Couldn't load project data at path '.'. Is the .pck file missing?"

not sure if it's just my computer being funky ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I can't open it either, although I've never used Godot, but the Godot Build file isn't just an exe there's some game data files or something.

Oh, I think there is missing .pkg file with resources :(

As @tildecat said, when exporting for windows with Godot you need to sumbit both the .exe and the .pkg files in a .zip file! Let me know when that is working!

@vio @legolula @quandtuniverse @linwenhao @tildecat thank you for bringing this to my attention and I'm sorry for the inconvienience ^^' (it's the first time I'm doing this). I managed to make a playable webbrowser version, I took the .exe out and put the link to itch.io in.

And again thank you for being kind to me and my mistakes <3

i'm glad you were able to get it working! it's a short and sweet game i can definitely relate to >.> i really like the hopeful ending as a reminder that things are going to get better! i was going to make a suggestion about the small text size, but it looks like you're already planning to change that, so no need :) you did a great job!!

This is so cute! I like the mood of the game. The easter eggs (e.g. post-its, posters) were just awesome. It's sad, that the puzzle didn't work, but I like the idea. Not bad - especially as a first solo jam.

@julia-babadshanow Thank you so much! <3 I took inspiration from my own walls and shelves :D

I'm planning to keep working on this as a portfolio piece when I have time. So maybe someday the puzzle will work ^^

Aw this made me feel better in my mental space and honestly gave me motivation to get up and clean my room too! one step at a time right? As a fellow artist it's actually impressive how much you got done with the coding and so much art!!! all by yourself! I think you should feel proud :D I loved the mood and the message you tried to send with this game, I hope to see it finished one day <3

making your first game solo is definitely a challenge. it doesn't matter that it didn't work out, something was created that looks good and maybe you can add some features to it in the future and it will be a nice game with a great story.

I liked that I found a message that the game does not work as it says on the sticky notes. funny detail

The game has beautiful visuals and soothing music, which create a relaxing atmosphere.

Although the content is not extensive, there are attempts to add some different things, such as interactive scenes and different options leading to different outcomes. If more development time had been given, I believe there would be even more interesting content.

One issue I encountered was during the "painting". I was unsure of what to do exactly. It seemed like a puzzle game, but once I moved a piece, I couldn't move it again. However, despite the puzzle remaining unsolved, clicking the "Next" button still allowed me to continue the story.

Overall, I think the game is well done, and I particularly like the character designs. Keep up the good work!

@nilan thank you for playing! ^^ this was my first time coding a game on my own (and also my first time in godot) so I couldn't make everything work, which is why the puzzle is like that and the next button is available. I plan to fix the bugs and add the things I couldn't fit in during the jam when I have time (currently a bit busy with uni stuff but I'm working on it). I already made a small to-do list in itch.io for that ^^

again, thank you for your kind feedback even when some things still need to fixed! <3

Excellent job on your first solo jam! This turned out great, and it's really impressive that you implemented all these minigames in addition to very effective visuals and writing that tie it all together. Having multiple endings and some branching paths is a really nice touch, which gives the player a nice sense of agency while keeping the project scope reasonable.

I also really appreciate the ability to continue past a minigame before you've completed it; this is really helpful for people who are either replaying to get a different ending, or who get stuck on a puzzle but still want to experience the story. Skipping a partially-done task is also a cool story/RP mechanic because it lets the player inject a bit of their personality into the story (not having enough energy to finish something as a character detail). Great work - you should be proud of this one!

I had first planned to make other mini-games but I couldn't figure out the code for that ^^' I'm glad that for I managed to do and how liked it is! I'm also glad that the next-button is noticed as a story element :D

Again, thank you kindly for playing (multiple times too! :o ) and for your nice comment! It made me very happy ^^

A very cozy game. I love the art! Depression trapping you in your apartment is definitely a unique twist on the limited space concept.

I felt that simply clicking on dishes and clothes to clean them up felt too simple. I would have liked to have to drag clothes to a bin, scrub food off of plates, or otherwise do a process that felt more mechanical or involved. To mimic the monotonous work that makes doing those tasks hard, but also to represent the therapeutic nature of slowly putting things in their proper place.

The game is simple, but very effective in conveying its themes. And like I said, the art is lovely. A great solo project for someone new to coding, you should be proud :)

@pen-island-games thank you very much for your feedback! It is greatly appreciated!

I was actually planning to have a drag and drop option for the clothes but I couldn't figure it out on time ^^'
I'm planning to add those mechanics this year (when I manage to learn them)
I do like the idea of scrubbing the dishes clean and I will see if I can manage to try this.

Again thank you for your suggestions and kind words!
