Hell Space Ltd. by hinesite

Welcome to Hell Space LTD. Where space doesn't exist unless you catapult your way there. The planet has become overpopulated and we must escape. Our only option is to use the last tool left on earth... A catapult from 450 B.C. Left-click and hold to charge the catapult. Let go to release the catapult. Aim the character with the cursor. Fling the characters at the tower or enemies. Try to build the tower to the white line to progress. Make it all the way to Mars and defeat Elon to win the game. Good Luck!

I oversaw the project and was responsible for the core programming. This one ended up being rather brutal. I chose to use a game engine I have never worked in, and ended up drastically changing the game Sunday morning. I chose to use Phaser for this project as our original our direction was going to be physics heavy, but when we weren't happy how the game play was going, so we pivoted to what you see now. It ended up being an extra rough weekend, but it was fun playing with Phaser JS. My main takeaway is to stick with with Arcade physics in Phaser (which would have worked perfectly for our final results).
Jashyua (Audio Creator and AI Graphics Generation Guru)
As the audio technician for HellSpace LTD. I spent 90% of my time in Garageband producing several theme tracks and a multitude of sound effects to help bring the game to life. Being quite familiar with the software I figured Garageband was the way to go even though I haven't used it in over a year. I underestimated how many features and keyboard shortcuts I had forgotten so it was a bit rough at first but after a few hours of playing around I was off to the races. It was really nice to rekindle that flame and especially fun making the final boss track with the various Elon Musk sound bites injected. The theme tracks were all made with my Akai MPK mini midi controller and each software instrument carefully selected and fine tuned to what I felt would fit the backdrop of each level. The majority of the sound effects were recorded using an old microphone I purchased on amazon for $30. It took quite a bit of tweaking the equalizer to make each sound as crispy as possible but overall I was pretty pleased with how things turned out. I just typed some words into a textbox.

It needs to be perfect.
Grouchy Wolf (Creative Director and Graphics Designer)
I made the millions of people trying to escape this forsaken planet… using Adobe Illustrator and visual reference of people rock climbing.
Bugs
- Due to my laziness, many of the calculations are based on 30fps, and my attempt at locking the game to 30fps didn't work. The catapult should take about 3 seconds to charge, if it is faster than that, you might try dropping the refresh rate on your monitor. -HineSite

Like the voice dubbing. Huge potential for making some frenzy otomads with it.
Would've loved a restart button somewhere as I was soft-locked during my first playthrough but luckily managed to beat the game during my second playthrough.
Things that could be added, is ofcourse all the additional mechanics that one doesnt have the time to implement during this, im also thinking that something like the different people you throw have different "bounce" effects, like someone sticks on impact some bounce once before stick and such, for some added difficulty and diversity in how you build your human tower.
Great work =)
People are a little too "sticky", but I guess it's part of the game rules. I ended like this:
